This Tuesday's Generosity Idea

Everyone has something to give, especially kids, teens, and young adults. Help a young person identify a service project or good deed that addresses an issue that’s close to their heart so they can spark some positive change.

Even though there’s not a lot of in-person volunteering going on right now, young people can still give back to their community through volunteering projects they can do at home. Whether they choose to befriend an elderly neighbor, send thank you notes to the military or support their local animal shelter, kids will learn that helping others makes them feel good, too!

Here are some great ways to get a young do-gooder started this year:

📚 Have your kids go through the books that they might be too old for and donate them to your nearest Little Free Library.

💌 Encourage your kids write a letter of thanks to a community hero including, a first responder, teacher as a nice way to recognize the hard work and job they do for everyone.

🐶 If your child is an animal lover with the time and space to spare, you can look into fostering a new furry friend. But even if you're not able to take that on, help your local animal shelter with such necessities as gently used water and food bowls, leashes, collars and pet beds, as well as cleaning supplies.

🎁 Host a (virtual) give-back birthday party or play date with your parent friends, and have each guest drop off something you can donate to a local food pantry or non-profit. Your kids will feel good knowing that their day helped make a difference.

When we share our generosity, it inspires others to give too. Add to the #GivingTuesday hashtag today. Let's use our power of generosity to create meaningful change and strengthen our bond of human connection.
