Dr. Jerilynn Prior was the esteemed keynote speaker at the recent Oceanside Health and Wellness Fair in Parksville. Dr. Prior is a professor of endocrinology at UBC, with a specialty in women's hormonal health.
Her compelling topic was: Paradoxes of Perimenopause - Surviving and Thriving. This subject resonated with me! So much so, in fact, that I have registered as a participant in the study which Dr. Prior is conducting (please see poster below).
Dr. Prior describes perimenopause as "the period of time before and for a year after the final menstrual period during which time ovarian hormonal patterns, experiences and sociocultural roles change".
This is a normal part of life, however for 2 out of 10 women, this can be a very tumultuous time (you too may be experiencing night sweats, hot flushes, heavy periods, migraines, fitful sleeps, breast pain and uncontrollable mood swings)!
Dr. Prior's research offers HOPE, which can help those 2 out of 10 of us, to survive perimenopause!
I'm thrilled to be part of this study which will not only affect my life... but also the lives of future generations of women as we strive to thrive through this transitional time!
I invite you to consider joining this study as well as passing this vital information along to your circle of women.
