I love that my students have had the opportunity to participate in the contests offered by the Diocese of Kalamazoo.  The theology curriculum is rich and these contests provide a practical application for knowledge gained in school.  It allows students to showcase their various talents in a way that expresses real world application of the knowledge.  The families at St. Augustine have benefitted too through rich conversations about how they are living out their faith. Thank You for these opportunities to allow our students to continue to deepen their faith.
God Bless you,

JUSTICE - The source of harmony and peace in our homes.
This article is about the practice of Justice among the members of the family: between husband and wife; between parents and children; and between adult sons and daughters and their parents.

Justice in the family begins with husband and wife giving each other what
they promised with their wedding vows. Do you remember what you promised on your wedding day?

Use this flyer as a bulletin insert, and as a handout for the couples. Flyer is available for FREE download at

Married with Halos
Do you know who Prisca and Aquila were? A couple in the New Testament who were married, with halos. They walked unafraid, and without much fanfare, built community through their day-to-day interactions.

For all that we can glean about this couple from the New Testament, there is so much more that we don't know, or don't know for sure: How did they met? How long had they been married when they met Paul? Did they have any children? What was their financial situation like? What adventures was Paul (St. Paul) referring to when he said that the two "risked their necks for my life" (Romans 16:4)?

Over the years, the Church has canonized a few married saints. Some, won their crowns after patiently bearing the cross of an obnoxious spouse. Others became nuns or priests after having been widowed; they are generally honored as models of holiness in religious life. With Prisca and Aquila, we meet a couple who attained sanctity together, not in spite of their vocation to marriage, but in and through it.

God has called you to an important vocation. He has gived you very unique gifts to fulfill that vocation. The Church needs you! The world needs you! Follow Jesus together, and he will make your marriage fruitful in ways you never imagined!
