October 20th, 2014

Dear Friends:
It's been a great week of music at both the spots.  Particular highlights for me was hearing George Cables with John Webber at Mezzrow.  In fact on Wednesday night I had Cables at Mezzrow and Harold Mabern at Smalls - two of the greatest pianists alive playing at both my clubs at the same time.  It was some real jazz and the audience was strong.  Our weekend was also strong and it feels like Mezzrow is getting some traction.

I'm particularly excited to present on Monday and Tuesday one of my boyhood idols of the piano - Kirk Lightsey.  Kirk typified the "Bradley's Generation' and was a ubiquitous figure of the New York scene at that time.  With him is his long time counterpart Santi Dibriano, who will be with him on bass.  Kirk's been out of the country for the last 21 years and I'm not sure the last time he had a duet gig in NYC but it may have been at Bradley's.  This is sure to be a historic gig - reservations are recommended.

It's starting to feel good in Greenwich Village - plenty of jazz happening every night and there's now about 10 venues within walking distance.  Pretty cool.  As my friend Carlos Abadie likes to say "we are the scene" - so true.  These are the good old days - right now!   I hope you can join us and share some of this great music.

I pray for peace in these strange times.  Keep an intelligent mind and please act compassionately I wish everyone the best and hope to see you at both spots.
