July 7th, 2014

Hello All:

Well, we can't complain about the weather - it's been incredible!  Summertime is always my favorite time at Smalls even though it's our "slow" season business-wise.  During the summer, I love to sit on the front "porch" - the bench in front of the club and try to bark customers in.  I've a gotten to be a good salesman over the years.  My favorite tactic is to say to a wavering customer: "would you like to just have a peek?".  This intrigues them - like getting that free teaspoon "taste" of ice cream at Baskin & Robbins when you can't decide which flavor.  It often seals the deal.  People on the street just can't imagine what a jazz club looks or feels like.  They venture into our jazz bunker and as soon as they get a taste of the vibe, the music, the crowd - they're in like flynn!  Another satisfied customer...

Mezzrow Update:

Everything pretty much on track.  Still doing some last minute things and organizing the staff.  We are looking to open in August and be in full swing by Labor Day and the fall.

I hope everyone can get to the beach sometime this summer!  My best regards and I hope to see each of you at Smalls.
