4 October 2020
Seventeenth Sunday after Trinity

THE CORNERSTONEMatthew 21.33-46

You are very welcome to join us at our services

9am Holy Communion (traditional language)
11am Holy Communion (which will be live streamed)
Full order of service

Leader and president: The Chaplain
Preacher: The Chaplain

Tea and coffee will be served after the service. Please carefully follow instructions.

After the service both the youth group (for those aged 18-30) and the confirmation group will meet. The youth group continue to look at the theme of miracles

People are required to wear masks and also to keep social distance. Please make use of the hand gel at the entrance to the church.

Our Sunday school is currently not meeting, but will provide sheets and a take away bag (with craft and snack) to occupy children during the service, and we will also try to involve them a bit in the services. We will see how the start of term goes before making any decisions on restarting Sunday school in church.
There is, however, an area for small children in the chapter room (the room next to the church), but they need to be accompanied and we ask you to bring toys along with you.

This Sunday

How many chances should we get?
Jesus tells a story about people who were given three or four chances, but they kept on turning them down. Finally he gave them their last chance

You can read the story here in the Bible (Matthew 21.33-46 ) and learn a bit more at

Morning prayer is live streamed Monday - Friday at 8:30am, and Saturdays at 9am.
You can find us on our facebook page or the home page of our website.
The text of morning and evening prayer can be found by clicking here or by downloading the app: Daily Prayer.

We are looking at the Prophets in the Old Testament and this week we will be reading Amos 7-9

Wednesday 7 October
7:30 pm Holy Communion, followed by a reflective Bible study and the Jesus Prayer

Sunday 11 October
9:00 am Holy Communion (traditional language)
11:00 am Harvest festival, Holy Communion with children's skit

The youth group, liturgy group and confirmation group will meet after the service

Next Sunday we celebrate Harvest thanksgiving. Over the next few weeks, we are collecting for the work of the Salvation Army with homeless people. We are looking for non-perishable food (in tins and packets), soap and shampoo etc. Warm blankets, coats and boots (especially men’s) are also welcomed (for us to give to cold callers). Donations can be brought to our Sunday service or left during the week (given to the guard and ask him to give them to the chaplain). Please put cash donations in clearly marked envelopes.

The ST ANDREWS' LITURGY GROUP run by Kirill, Olga and Marina will start again after the service on Sunday 11 October, providing there are no new restrictions. It will meet fortnightly.
Kirill writes, "We are planning to revisit the entire contents of what we've managed to cover so far (which included a short overview of how the Common Worship liturgy came to be, its structure and the introductory prayers - up to and including the collect) in our first meeting, so everyone is most welcome to join even if they didn't attend the first four sessions".

Do you have an old unused phone? We may be able to give them a new home with someone in need of a phone. Please speak to the chaplain or to Louise.
The confirmation group will usually meet after the 11am service (although some sessions may be by zoom). If you are interested in finding out more about the Christian faith, about Anglicanism, and how to find faith and to grow in your faith, then this is for you.
We do not know when our next service of confirmation will be. This will depend on when a Bishop is able to visit Moscow.
Click here if you would like to find out more about confirmation, or contact the chaplain
If you are already on the rota for welcoming, reading or leading intercessions, the sign up sheet is available here.
We need people to welcome, read and lead the intercessions at our services.
if you are currently not on the rotas, and would like to be on the rota, please email Giles

THANK YOU very much to those who have given via yandex or in other ways.

At the moment we have no income coming in from concerts or events, and are dependent for everything on your donations. You can give on Sundays, or via the chaplain, or direct at

If you are based overseas and would like to support our work, please visit
If you would like to give through Yandex on our website, you will need to fill in the form on the first page, stating how much you would like to give, your phone number, name (if you wish), citizenship, email address, and then say what you would like the donation to be used for. Please do write in English or Russian that it is a Donation and that VAT does not apply. You can copy and paste the Russian words in quotation marks if you wish.
The only boxes that you need to fill in are the amount you would like to give, your telephone number, and we would ask you to state that this is a donation and that VAT does not apply.
You then press the last button and will be taken to the Yandex payment page.
This is what the Yandex payment page looks like. In this example, the donor has said above that they would like to give 1000 roubles. You can either pay by bank card, yandex money or even via Sperbank telephone.

Please note that Yandex take a commission of 2.8%, so if you are giving a large sum, do get in touch with us to see if there are other ways of donating.

The special prayer for this week
Almighty God,
you have made us for yourself,
and our hearts are restless till they find their rest in you:
pour your love into our hearts and draw us to yourself,
and so bring us at last to your heavenly city
where we shall see you face to face;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
