We're proud to share the first issue of EcoFutures, a new project on climate justice, with a focus on India. The project is presented in collaboration with CoFUTURES at the University of Oslo, and the speculative fiction author and interdisciplinary climate researcher Vandana Singh.

Our first issue features “Dark Earth,” an original short story by Easterine Kire, an acclaimed writer from the Indigenous Naga community in India, along with a response essay by Indigenous jurist and legal scholar Rebecca Tsosie. It also includes an interview with Kire and a brief review of her novel When the River Sleeps, and a new Hindi translation of "Time as Kinship," an essay by environmental justice scholar Kyle Whyte.

EcoFutures is a quarterly serial; stay tuned for the next issue, featuring more original fiction and nonfiction, in early 2022.
