We welcomed the spring with the completion and Grand Opening of our Outdoor Visit Center, featuring a playground.  This play area is designed exclusively for children in care.  It is a bright, cheerful and fun place for both parents and kids to learn to play together, to heal and to build toward reunification.
We are learning to manage and use the outdoor space to its greatest effectiveness.  Doing so, we hope to increase the number of visits we host by 20%.  Also, we are planning to host “Sibling Visits” at least one Saturday per month.  Unfortunately, children are not always in the same foster home with their siblings.  To enhance and maintain family relationships, we intend to provide fun opportunities for brothers and sisters to come together.  We will be working with community partners to make this happen.
We are also exploring the possibility of creating a “Crossover” program, assisting DCS youth in detention back to the mainstream, and will soon begin an enhanced infant visitation pilot project.
We are blessed with so many opportunities to fulfill our mission.  Your support and ongoing generosity—especially through the tax credit program—empower us to move forward.
May the coming spring be a time of renewed purpose for all of us!

2014 Holiday Program Sets a New Record

We extend a heartfelt thank you to all individuals, groups and businesses who supported our Holiday Program with monetary donations, toys, gift cards, handmade items and volunteering at our events.  Because of your support our 2014 Holiday Program was a huge success!  We set a new record, distributing gifts to 3,700 children in Pima County -1000 more than in 2013.  Each child received three toys and teens got gift certificates; all received a quilt or other handmade item. Children of the Tohono O’odham and Pascua Yaqui Nations also benefited from our program.

Toy drives were sponsored by the University of Arizona, Pima Community College Staff Council and the Truck Driving Program, Petsmart (Oracle & Wetmore), Switchgear Solutions Inc., Graybar Electric, Sonora Quest Labs, Orange Grove Middle School, Sunquest Information Systems, St. Alban's Episcopal Church and many other community partners. In addition, Tucson’s motorcycle community held the Kruzin for Kidz Holiday Parade in support of our efforts.  Launched in 2013, this holiday toy parade has gained popularity among sponsors and riders.  This year’s parade sponsoring partners included TEP, American Legion Riders - District 2 , IBEW Local 1116,  Harley Davidson of Tucson, 96.1 KLPX and America’s Overwatch as well as other sponsors.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, our Spring Bags for Kids Sew-A-Thon was postponed for the summer. We have a new date and a great new venue. Registration information will be available in June.
Aviva's Undies and Socks Drive is currently underway.  We are collecting new underwear and socks for children and teens in State care.  Last fiscal year we distributed over 6,000 socks and undies, and anticipate that we will distribute more than 8,000 units this year.   We need all sizes for boys and girls,  2 to XXL.  Drop your donations at :  Aviva Children’s Services office located at 153 S. Plumer Ave.  For more information call 520.327.6779 Ext. 13.  You can also view or download our flier.
