Dear <<First Name>>,

We love collaborating on classic journeys to Africa for you and your guests. Q1 always seems to fly by as we get back into the flow from the holiday break and work to keep up with the fast pace of requests coming in from people who are now keen to plan travels this year and next. Since we are hosting a few fun film events this year, we decided to highlight some of the best videos from our partners, including some new ones that were finalized late last year. Take some time to take yourself to Africa with these short clips, which you are always welcome to post, share, and send to your clients.

Also, as you are planning your own travels to Africa, whether on a hosted educational or a site trip tailored to your own time and interest, please reach out to us for a night or two at each of our properties. We do very few hosted educationals as our properties tend to be singular, independently-owned entities, but if you have time pre or post something organized, we’ll do our best to get you to where we are! That goes for media as well; if you work with journalists you would like to have travel with us, just say the word. Also, it is always wonderful to know when people are attending trade shows in Africa so we can connect you with our partners for meetings or property visits. For instance, Brooke is attending TFest in Dubai ... if you'll be there too, let her know!

Please let us know how we can help you with anything Africa. We are rested, rejuvenated, and ready to roar … we hope you are too!

Cheers,

Johann & Brooke

Potato Bush Camp, Lower Zambezi National Park

Sausage Tree and Potato Bush Camps are privileged to be situated in the very best game viewing region within the Lower Zambezi National Park. A magical setting with sweeping views over the islands and river, with the mountains in the background.

Last month the LA Times published this article on Zambia Walking Tours and the Little Five.
And, Zambia has finally received some well warranted recognition as one of CNN Travel's 20 "Best Places to Visit in 2020" and Forbes' "Best 7 Destinations For The Year."

Remember both Potato Bush AND Sausage Tree guarantees a private vehicle for every booking, and every booking for four nights receives complimentary flights to/from the property throughout Zambia. There truly has never been a better time to book your clients here, and if you are headed to South Africa for upcoming trade shows and want to extend into Zambia for a visit, let us know!

Tongabezi Overview

Tongabezi remains our favorite home-away-from-home in the Victoria Falls area. Just far enough upriver to be away from the busier hotels and helicopter overflights, yet close enough to easily get to the airport, visit the Falls, and also partake in activities (visiting Livingstone Island, scenic flights, bungee jumping, whitewater rafting, etc.). By now many of you may have read the news of the partnership between Tongabezi and Green Safaris, which we are all excited and proud to share as it is a continuation of Ben's vision for ensuring the highest environmental standards at Tongabezi. As we have more news to share you'll be the first to know. If you will be visiting the Falls and would like to stay with us and experience the Tongabezi way of life, please let us know!

Flycamping On Safari - Truly Experiential

They say a picture is worth 1000 words , so does that mean a video is worth 10,000? We think so a there is just so much to say about and experience with Nomad Tanzania! Take a tour around Tanzania with us...and do let us know if you would like to be added to a list of those we invite on our hosted educationals as they are the best way to get to every corner of Tanzania!

Mandrare River Camp in the Renowned Dry Spiny Forest
Madagascar Classic Collection has revolutionized the typical approach to itineraries showcasing the amazing diversity of Madagascar, where around 90% of animal and plant life is endemic. With limited infrastructure in the country, driving around is not the way to go for most clients and flying between lodges set in different eco-systems, with wide ranging wildlife highlights in each, is more analogous to how you approach safaris in any other country in Africa.

Here is a well-balanced 13-day Wildlife Highlights sample itinerary utilizing our scheduled charter flights (on Mondays and Thursdays) to the far south in combination with visiting the renowned Andasibe/Mantadia reserves. Covering three distinct eco-systems, it's my favorite for guests focusing on wildlife viewing, but we can tailor itineraries all over Madagascar and often include the likes of uber-luxe Miavana, remote Tsara Komba, even more remote Masoala, and many others.

Mandrare River Camp (good overview, though tents have been upgraded since)
Manafiafy Beach and Rainforest Lodge

And did you know, the BBC stayed with us at Mandrare River Camp when filming their second season of Planet Earth II, of which you'll see our lemurs featured in the "Islands" episode about 10 minutes in.
Snapshot of Scenic Air's "Flying Safari" Experience

Scenic Air Safaris is about more than just efficiently getting guests to and from lodges in style and comfort. We also create completely unique custom flying safaris that can be personalized to your specific needs anywhere in Eastern and Southern Africa, all of which are perfect for families, couples, and small private groups. Plus, we have GoPro mounts on the planes so your guests can easily create their own videos from their time in Africa.

Our aim is always to enrich, educate, and enlighten through the unique experiences we build into each journey. Flying safari packages give you the flexibility to discover remote destinations or create itineraries unavailable with scheduled air routes. You can also access the most coveted accommodation and arrange exclusive insider-access local experiences, creating a truly unique and unforgettable trip.

These can be booked through Trans Africa Safaris or any Onsite or Operator you work with.

What the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust is all About

At the heart of everything we do at Campi Ya Kanzi is the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust (MWCT). Conservation and communities always go hand in hand and the Trust is a shining example of what can be achieved when passionate people set out to protect one of Africa's great wilderness areas. Your guests make a big difference purely by visiting and experiencing this special and unique area.

We love this video that fully encapsulates the connection between your guests visiting Campi Ya Kanzi and conservation success of the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust.

Cottar's Safari Service Pioneering Safaris for 100 Years

Celebrating their 100 year anniversary throughout 2019, Cottar's 1920's Safari Camp, 5-bedroom Bush Villa, and new Fly/Conservation Camp remains the most authentic safari experience in the Mara. The private Olderkesi Conservancy allows for a host of activities (night drives, off-road driving, electric mountain bikes, safari walks, bush breakfasts/dinners, authentic community visits, and more) not found in the main Mara Reserve. Nowhere else in the Mara can you experience the peace and solitude that we offer to our guests on our private conservancy and also in the area of the Mara south of the Sand River which hardly anyone else can get to. Of course if you're coming to Kenya and want to visit various camps in the Mara, we can help with transfers to get you from a stay at Cottar's to a site elsewhere.

Did you know that the Cottar family made some of the first motion pictures on safari? It's no wonder there is such a strong history and legacy that we can tell through video today as well:

Zambia Overview
Zambian Ground Handlers has created a comprehensive 37 page Camp Fact Sheet covering most safari camps and hotels in Zambia. All the information you need in one place for quick reference!

Here are three videos about Zambia that we're loving right now:
Hot Air Balloon Safari over Busanga Plains, which was a highlight for Brooke and me on our last visit.

Everyone's favorite, Elephants in Mfuwe Lodge ... we can't wait to see the outcome of the current renovations at this classic lodge.

Return to the Wild is a classic 1962 film featuring Norman Carr, one of the pioneers of conservation and tourism in Zambia.
HandZaround Overview of this Simultaneously Vibrant and Ancient Country
Ethiopia from the Air and Ground video features the Danakil Depression and Erta Ale, two of the most otherworldly places Johann's ever visited!

Both also feature the Simien Mountains where we recently broke ground on the first of our own luxury tented camps. Watch this space for updates and opening dates in later 2020.

We'll also welcome educationals as we introduce a whole new calibre of accommodation in Ethiopia. Let me know if you're interested in visiting Ethiopia later in 2020?

Here are some highlights from Brooke.

We welcome our industry friends to visit us, especially after the complete renovation of Motse, which is looking spectacular! Sites are based on flight availability to/from CPT or JNB, so please check in with me if you are planning a trip to South Africa.

Coming soon ... we are working on a new website which will go live shortly. As we test it and try it to ensure the best possible user experience, please be patient. We have six new videos we can't wait to share with you! Brooke will be at TFest on behalf of Ol Jogi, so reach out if you'll be in Dubai as well. And of course, we will always do our best to host you at Ol Jogi. Being fully, 100% exclusive to one booking at a time, we can't offer sites with guests in house, and we ask that you spend at least 24 hours at Ol Jogi to get a small glimpse into the vast experience.
What better way to start or end an educational in Kenya than time at the beach! There are daily direct flights from both Nairobi and the Mara to Ukunda, the closest airstrip to Alfajiri Villas. We would be delighted to host you so that you understand first had the exceptional experience and superlative service your guests have with us. The best months for educationals are February and March or September and October. Until the time we can welcome you to one of our three exquisite villas, you can see and share the Alfajiri Villas experience with our various videos.
The best way to see various videos of West Africa is through Johann's YouTube channel where we post personal videos from our travels. This includes a number of snippets from our recent trip to Senegal and Guinea-Bissau; you can access that Trip Report here if you didn't receive it (and if you want to receive our Trip Reports let us know and we'll add you to that email list). If you're getting interested in visiting West Africa, and want to look an "educational", let me know. The best way is to join a guaranteed set departure tour that TransAfrica is already leading and we'll offer you and industry rate.
