As winter creeps onto us with its dipping temperatures and shrinking daylight hours, it seem as though Block 1 has flew past! At CS Ubuntu, the past 2 months have been busy with forming committees, welcoming new members, and planning out activities for the upcoming year. We couldn’t be more excited to roll out what our new committees have in store!

Remember, you're always welcome to the boardroom for cozy conversations, a warm cup of your preferred beverage or just a spot to chill between classes!

BOARD:  Impunity Documentary Screening
Earlier in September, the board organised a screening of "Impunity" (2010), a documentary covering the transitional justice process that took place in Colombia in the late 1990s following a civil war between the state and FARC paramilitary forces. An insightful discussion took place afterwards in which viewers reflected on the conflict and the documentary as a whole.


ACTIVITIES: Halloween Movie Night
On the 17th of October, the Activities Committee organised a spookily fun Halloween movie night! Equipped with a selection of hot chocolate, popcorn and halloween candy we sat down to watch Disney’s Hocus Pocus. The acting may not have been Oscar-worthy, but this Halloween classic gave us all the cheesy 90s movie vibes and was thoroughly enjoyed by all!


STUDY TRIP: Small Study Trip Revelation Drinks
Last week, the Study Trip Committee presented this year's Small Study Trip destination at Café Florin! With the help of a few presentation slides and some drinks, it was revealed that CS Ubuntu is heading off to the German city of Nuremberg!

Small Study Trip Nuremberg

The Study Trip Committee presents this year's small trip to Nuremberg, Germany! Join CS Ubuntu as we explore this city from November 22-24. During this trip, special focus will be given to Nuremberg's history during and after the Second World War such as the formation of the Nuremberg Laws, the trials of the National Socialists leadership, as well as the process of post-conflict international lawmaking.

The Activities Committee presents:
Disco Bowling

On the 28th November CS Ubuntu goes disco bowling! Come along to Bison Bowling at 21:00 to join us for an exciting evening of bowling, music, lightshows, smokemachines and drinks. Tickets will be only €7,50 and you can sign up through our Facebook page. It will be a fun night, we hope to see you there!

Boardroom Questionnaire  
In this segment of the newsletter, we pose a question to visitors to the boardroom!

This newsletter's question comes fresh from the coffee machine:     Hot chocolate or chococino?    



Liam - Chococino is just too much.

Maud -  Chococino!  I always like the more expensive option because I feel like it's more chocolatey. Hot chocolate is water-based, chococino is milk-based and this cannot be overlooked.

Artemis - I don't think there's a difference.
