Update from the Board
Dear members,
February was a time of new faces, new introductions, and many activities of which you can read the recaps below! The committees have been formed and introduced at the General Assembly and are working hard to organize new events, which can also be found in this newsletter. Furthermore, CS Ubuntu has expanded onto two new communicative platforms: LinkedIn and WhatsApp.
As CS Ubuntu members are progressing further in their academics and into the professional arena, and since the main goals of CS Ubuntu are career orientation and knowledge sharing, it deems us wise to make use of the most evident communication channel focused on careers: LinkedIn. The CS Ubuntu LinkedIn Group is meant for both members and alumni, to keep up with each other's career paths and to share relevant vacancies, whether for volunteering, for an internship, or a paid position, and knowledge on getting a foot through the door in the field of conflict studies/human rights/international development. To join, click on the link: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/13577897/
To get in touch with your fellow CS Ubuntu members in a more informal way, you can now also join the CS Ubuntu WhatsApp group! Joining is completely voluntary. If you would enjoy being a part of this group, simply click on the link to join: https://chat.whatsapp.com/FwNAvQROuiFH4M1ZRvzdVF
On another note: the call for board members 2018/2019 has been opened! What this entails can be found on our website: http://www.csubuntu.nl/board/previous-board/becoming-a-boardmember/. If you see yourself taking CS Ubuntu to the next level next year, simply send us your CV and a motivation letter to info@csubuntu.nl before April 30th. For questions and suggestions, feel free to stop by the boardroom (Drift 21, 2.06) or get in touch with any member of the current board.
For now, enjoy the spring weather, and I hope to see you at one of the upcoming events soon!
Best wishes,
On behalf of the board,
Anouk Pietersen

Call for Board Members!
This month, we have officially opened our call for board members! So far, this year has been a blast for us and therefore we are both sad and excited to look for our successors. CS Ubuntu has grown a lot as an organization the past years, it is both more professional and well established within the University. Still, there are a lot more opportunities for the upcoming years and we hope for a new board that is motivated to take Ubuntu to the next level! Are you interested in developing both yourself and the association? Or perhaps looking for an opportunity to add some relevant experience to your CV which can be easily combined with a full-time study? Do you see yourself as the next President, Secretary, Treasurer, External Affairs Officer or Educational Officer?
Don't hesitate to apply by sending a letter of motivation and your CV to info@csubuntu.nl before the 30th of April. If you have questions about the application or the positions, you are more than welcome to approach anyone of the current board
You can find more information on our website: http://www.csubuntu.nl/board/previous-board/becoming-a-boardmember/
Don't be afraid to apply if you are not sure if you are active enough at CS Ubuntu or if you have enough skills and experience: we value motivation most of all.

Upcoming CS Ubuntu Events
4 April: Study Trip Committee presents: Spanish themed Pub Quiz
As you may have seen in the last newsletter this year's Big Study Trip will take us to the Bilbao and Barcelona! After having a get-together dinner (complete with sangria of course) with the whole travel group on the 21 st of February we are all now even more excited for the trip! Over the course of nine days we will engage in museums, talks, and tours about the conflict-related issues in both cities which will be balanced with beach days, sightseeing, and more sangria of course.
For those who unfortunately cannot make it this year fear not! You can still experience a little Spanish fun with our Spanish themed pub quiz that we will be hosting at the monthly drinks on the 4 th of April, plus there’s also next year!
