Upcoming Events and GA

CS Ubuntu has two (!) events coming up on June 6th and 8th which have been in the planning for a while so hopefully there's something in this week for everyone!

Since the last time you heard from me, we've had a few fun excursions. The big study trip happened in April and a group of our members went off to Hamburg for a week - you'll all get to see the great content that emerged from that trip soon! We had a few monthly drinks - one of which involved a whole lot of free pizza where we got to meet potential board candidates. Finally, Wieke took us on a tour of her favorite bars around Utrecht during Ubuntu's renowned pub crawl.

I hope to see you all at one (or both) of our upcoming events!
On behalf of the 11th board,
Karlijn van der Loo
President CS Ubuntu 2021-2022

BOARD UPDATE

The board has been working hard on the events you see promoted below and at the same time has been constantly thinking about finding our candidate board for 2022-2023. Sadly, this has been a struggle. Therefore, we call on you to please help! If you, or anyone you know, would make a good addition to next year's board, apply apply apply!

EVENTS

YOGA STOPS TRAFFICK

This year, CS Ubuntu has formed a part of the new UGlobe Student Council. This group of association board members has decided to organize the 'Global Challenges Week' from June 6th-9th.

CS Ubuntu will kick off the week with Yoga Stops Traffick, an event based around 108 sun salutations led by certified teachers from around Utrecht (you can come and go as you like), speeches about human trafficking, and free healthy juices and smoothies. It will be taking place outdoors (or under a tent if necessary) in the lovely Botanical Gardens! We have a limited amount of yoga mats available at the venue to borrow.

Sign up to join us! (and don't forget your yoga mat or towel)

TOEVLUCHT LECTURE

The lecture committee has brought back the event which was sadly postponed last semester! Join this lecture on conflict, migration, and its effects on people by Markha Valenta. Also hear from the NGO, Toevlucht, about asylum procedures in the Netherlands and what its like to be undocumented in Utrecht.

After such a long postponement of this event, we can't wait to hear from them!

GA #3

Save the date! Join us in the evening of June 23rd (exact time and location TBA) to meet the candidate board, hear about all that has happened this past year, and exercise your right to vote!
