Happy Lhosar to friends of The Mountain Company

I would like to wish everyone a very happy Lhosar! Today, March 2nd, is the start of the Tibetan New Year and Lhosar will be celebrated by Buddhists throughout the world.

Now that Spring has sprung in Nepal and Bhutan it is only a few weeks before our first groups arrive for their trips to these Himalayan countries. One of our most frequently asked questions is the difference between a Spring and Autumn trip.

Of course both seasons have their pros and cons however I would recommend you certainly consider Spring. In summary the key advantages are: lower number of tourists; flowers in bloom especially rhododendrons; warmer weather from April onwards and less expensive international flights. For a more detailed discussion please read our FAQs on our website "When is the best time of year to visit Nepal?"

If you are considering coming out to Nepal this Spring then I suggest you think about booking your trip soon. As you can see on the column to the left of this newsletter our Mera Peak Expedition and Upper Dolpo to Jomsom trips are now guaranteed to run.

Looking further ahead to Autumn season our Kanchenjunga Circuit trek in Nepal and our Lunana Snowman trek in Bhutan are now both guaranteed to run. And we require several more bookings to run the following treks: Kanchenjunga to Makalu GHTDhaulagiri Circuit, Ama Dablam Base Camp and Everest Discovery and Mera Peak Expedition

I suggest you regularly check our Latest News section of our website for our full list of Western and Sherpa led treks guaranteed in Spring and Autumn 2014.

Please get in contact if you have any questions or require further information about any of our trips to the Himalayas. Trek on!
