WORLD REFUGEE DAY
Join Global Friends Coalition on Saturday, June 15th for our 11th annual World Refugee Day. The program, which honors and recognizes refugees, will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Lyons Auto, across from Grand Forks City Hall. The event will be held in tandem with the first Farmer’s Market of the summer. The market opens at 9:00 a.m. and runs until 1:30 p.m. This year's program will include opening remarks from Mayor Michael Brown, performances from elementary and high school EL Summer Performing Arts, recognition of our newest citizens, music and dancing. Global Friends Coalition's youth liaisons are performing--get ready for some surprises!
World Refugee Day is celebrated officially around the world on June 20th. Global Friends takes the opportunity to be downtown on the opening weekend of the Farmer's Market to recognize the strengths that refugees bring to the communities of Grand Forks and East Grand Forks.
