TAKE ACTION on this important update about HB 454 from our partners at Equality Ohio:
HB 454 Opponent Testimony Hearing
Wednesday, June 1, 9am, Room 121
House Families, Aging, and Human Services Committee
This will be the bill’s fourth hearing and is for invited opponent testimony only, meaning that only those who oppose the bill and are invited by the Committee will testify on Wednesday. And we can all show up in support!
TAKE ACTION
1) CONTACT THE COMMITTEE
Tell committee members that HB 454 has NO PLACE in Ohio and should NOT move forward.
2) PACK THE HOUSE!
Show up at Statehouse on Wednesday, June 1, 9am, in Hearing Room 121, wearing your rainbows to show the power of our community and support those speaking. Can't show up? Watch the hearing LIVE on The Ohio Channel HERE.
3) SPEAK UP!
Speak up on social media and in your personal networks. The people who want to ban gender-affirming care rely on other people’s lack of familiarity with supportive care for transgender people to avoid criticism.
4) STAY INFORMED

This hearing will lay the foundation for community members to have informed conversations with their own lawmakers this summer, and we have every intention of ensuring the opportunity for robust opponent testimony in the fall. The fact that this bill is not being fast-tracked out of Committee before the summer is a (small) victory for us and is only possible because of the persistent advocacy YOU have done so far.
We must keep it up! Keep calling, sending emails, and speaking out. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to protecting access to life-saving healthcare in Ohio.
