UIMA December 2017 Update

To Him be the Honor, Praise, and Glory

Written by Brent Dodd, UIMA Pilot
The year 2017 is quickly coming to a close.  With thankful hearts, we praise the Lord for the safety He has given in flight and for the souls that have been saved.  People needing medical help have been reached, opportunities have been given to share the true meaning of Christmas, and by God’s grace and enabling, the work of the Lord continues to move forward in Mexico.
Recently, late at night, I received word requesting a flight for a pregnant Tarahumara woman who needed to be transported to a hospital, as she was experiencing complications with her delivery.  I communicated that, weather permitting, I would be departing at first light so I could get the patient to the hospital as soon as possible. The flight to that remote location is 20 minutes in length and from there, the flight to the hospital they desired to take her to is 62 minutes.  Before heading to bed, I pre-flighted the Mexico Medical Missions' Carbon Cub and filled out the flight plan paperwork.
Early the next morning, I received another text from the doctor saying the patient’s condition had deteriorated and she needed to lie down during the transport.  One of UIM’s turbo Cessna 206 is also based in the location where we serve Mexico Medical Mission’s small hospital.  The 206 can handle a patient laying down in a stretcher, as well as a guardian and medical personnel, so I switched to using the 206. The Lord gave good weather and the flight took place without a hitch.
After returning to home base, I followed up to see how the patient was doing.  I was told she was in critical condition and received an emergency C-section.  The baby needed special care, but after a short time was doing okay.  The mother also needed special care, but she pulled through, too, for which we thank the Lord.

All who pray for and give to the flight program make it possible for UIM Aviation to be the hands and feet of Jesus in these remote areas of Mexico.  We thank the Lord that He uses ordinary people working together to extend His gospel to the far reaches of the world.  1 Corinthians 3:6,7: “I planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth anything, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.”  To Him be all the honor, praise, and glory for what He is doing throughout the world.
As you celebrate the wonder of all Christ has done and continues to do for you, we thank you for your part in sharing the true meaning of Christmas to the people of Mexico. From all of us who serve the Lord with UIM Aviation, we wish you a delightful Christmas.

An Update about our Fundraising Dinner

Written by Callene Ross, Office Administrator
On November 11th, we hosted our annual Dinner at the Hangar event, where people came to hear about how the Lord is working through UIM Aviation while enjoying a home-cooked meal. God richly blessed our efforts during the fundraiser. Here are the numbers:

Total volunteers: 32
Total seats filled: 116
Total raised from table sponsors and giving: $14,518
Nearly every seat was filled. We want to thank our table sponsors for covering the expenses leading up to the event. To Chrissy Lesseski, who drove all the way from Georgia to cook the amazing cuisine. To our servers from Faith Christian Academy, who went above and beyond to provide the best dining experience. A thank you to everyone who made this event possible, and to those who gave gifts and pledged to become a prayer partner. We were so blessed by the response!
