Some things are just meant to be. And this is the story of one of those things. A few years ago, as I shut down the airplane on a mountain airstrip in the Sierra Nayar of Central Mexico, I watched as a man approached. It was obvious he wanted to talk. He told me that for many years they had not had anyone in the village to teach them the Bible, and that the small group of believers were “hungry for God’s teaching.” He asked me if I knew anyone who was able to come to the village regularly and teach. I said I was sorry I did not, but that I would advertise the need.

Three years passed and I forgot that meeting with Pascual, a Cora believer in the village of Gavilanes. Then one day my co-worker told me about a pastor from a local church here in town that he had met at Starbucks. We agreed that we needed to set up a meeting with him, however neither of us had his phone number. One day, a friend of ours from my daughter’s basketball practice invited us to attend this same church. A couple of days later, I connected the dots and asked if she knew that pastor. She did and passed me his number.

So we set up the meeting, and were able to sit down and talk with him and the missions pastor. As we were talking and getting to know them as people, and getting to know their ministries, it became clear that they have a strong vision for planting churches. When they talked about their vision to reach municipalities in the the mountains, in that moment God brought back to my mind this man that had approached me several years before. So I recounted the story to them, and literally the rest is history.

We set up an exploratory flight through another contact who was registering that same airstrip  and aiding in medical brigades to the village, and who also knew Pascual personally. A meeting and several phone calls later, they set up the first church service. Now on a regular basis we fly a pastor, a worship leader, and a kids ministry team to the village to teach and disciple the small group of believers there. Though some would call that coincidence, I believe they were divine appointments, orchestrated by a loving God who heard the prayers of a small group of believers asking for someone to continue teaching them. It is such a privilege to be part of ministries like this, to be a part of stories like this where we can see God’s timing so clearly.

Thank you to all of you who are such a vital part of this ministry, to those of you who faithfully pray, and to those who sacrificially give. None of this is possible without all of us working together as a team. Thank you for being a part of that team.

Come check us out at the IAMA tent
at OshKosh on
July 22-28.

This month, we have the opportunity to take part in EAA AirVenture - one of the largest air shows in America. Our guys are very excited to be there!

The UIM Aviation booth will be under the IAMA tent (International Association of Mission Aviation). Every year, IAMA provides a place where aviation missions share their ministry.

Please pray for us as we present UIM Aviation to people from all over the world. We want to clearly share what God is doing. If you are in the area, stop by our table to visit. We would love to see you!
