August and September 2014 International Student Newsletter:

Greeting from Sara, Stay Connected, New Health Insurance Cards & Waivers, 5 Reminders for the New Semester, and OPT Workshop.

 Greetings from Sara

Welcome to the 2014-2015 academic year!  This semester we are happy to welcome 24 new international students from Argentina, China, France, Germany, Ivory Coast, Northern Ireland, Saudi Arabia, Tanzania, Thailand, and Venezuela.

The Center for Global Education (CGE) has a great student employee staff again this year.  When you come to the Center for Global Education, you will likely be greeted by Bing Liang, Jessica Monnin, or Carly Kimberly.  Our student employees can answer basic questions and connect you with resources.

Best wishes for a wonderful year at Edgewood!

Check your Edgewood email, the CGE website, and the CGE Facebook page  to stay informed about fun events and important announcements.

New Health Insurance Cards & Waivers

Stop by the CGE to pick up your WPS health insurance card or submit a waiver application by September 5.

If you are enrolled in a health insurance policy other than WPS, you can apply for a health insurance waiver for the 2014-2015 academic year. The application deadline is September 5 and no late waiver applications will be accepted.

*Please note that ISEP students and students sponsored by the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission do not need to submit a waiver application.

5 Reminders for the New Semester!
   1. Notify CGE within 10 days of moving to a new address by submitting the Change of Address Form to CGE.  You don’t need to notify the Registrar’s Office—just submit the Change of Address form to the CGE and we’ll take care of the rest!

2. Enroll in a full course load each semester (12 undergraduate or 9 graduate credits). Last day to add a class for the fall semester is September 3. Last day to withdraw from a class is October 31.
3. Email Sara if you change your major (your major field of study should be correctly reflected on your I-20). If by changing your major, you will need more time to complete your program, you should apply for an extension (see #4).

4. If you will not complete your academic program by the completion date on your I-20 or DS-2019, submit an Application for Extension of I-20 BEFORE the program end date.

5. Carry a valid passport (one that will not expire in the next 6 months).
