Greetings from Sara, Stay Connected, English Conversation Lunch, New Health Insurance Cards & Waivers, 5 Reminders for the New Semester, and OPT Workshop.

Greetings from Sara

Welcome to the 2015-2016 academic year!  This semester we are happy to welcome 17 new international students from Brazil, Canada, China, Finland, Germany, Indonesia, Ireland, Norway, Saudi Arabia, and Vietnam.

The Center for Global Education (CGE) has a great student employee staff again this year.  When you come to the Center for Global Education, you will likely be greeted by Vicky Ortiz, Jessica Monnin, or Greta Becker.  Our student employees can answer basic questions and connect you with resources.

Best wishes for a wonderful year at Edgewood!

New Health Insurance Cards & Waivers

WPS insurance cards should be arriving soon. If you need to go to a hospital or clinic before the cards arrive, contact Hannah Lloyd to get a temporary insurance card.

If you are enrolled in a health insurance policy other than WPS, you can apply for a health insurance waiver for the 2015-2016 academic year. The application deadline is September 4 and no late waiver applications will be accepted.

Health Insurance Waiver Application

*Please note that ISEP students and students sponsored by the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission do not need to submit a waiver application.

5 Reminders for the New Semester!

1. Notify CGE within 10 days of moving to a new address by submitting the Change of Address Form to CGE.  You don’t need to notify the Registrar’s Office—just submit the Change of Address form to the CGE and we’ll take care of the rest!

2. Enroll in a full course load each semester (12 undergraduate or 9 graduate credits). Last day to add a class for the fall semester is September 2. Last day to withdraw from a class is October 30.

3. Email Sara if you change your major (your major field of study should be correctly reflected on your I-20). If by changing your major, you will need more time to complete your program, you should apply for an extension (see #4).

4. If you will not complete your academic program by the completion date on your I-20 or DS-2019, submit an Application for Extension of I-20 BEFORE the program end date.

5. Carry a valid passport (one that will not expire in the next 6 months).
