US 31 Construction begins August 15
The MDOT office in Gaylord said a US 31 project will start on August 15th and extend possibly through October.  Construction will begin from Douglas Lake Road, at the Emmet County Airport, through Pellston and end at Milton Street north of Alanson.  There will be intermittent lane closures, with stop sign control, which will result in a single lane for travel. There could be considerable traffic back-ups during heavy travel periods, especially through Labor Day.  All DLIA members who travel this route could be affected and may want to consider alternative routes into Petoskey such as Red School Road and Pleasant View Road.
