Spring Raptor Migration Watch
For any bird watchers out there – April and May are the peak of the spring raptor migration through the Straits of Mackinac as thousands of hawks, eagles and owls head north to their summer breeding grounds.  Join other birding enthusiasts, along with the Mackinac Straits Raptor Watch’s (MSRW) professional counter, behind the school in Mackinaw City on any good weather day to learn more about these amazing birds and their semi-annual trip through the Straits.  You can also keep track of the spring count and learn more about the work of the Mackinaw Straits Raptor Watch organization by clicking on link below:

In Search Of:  DLIA Newsletter Team Leader
DLIA publishes a Newsletter twice/year in May and November.  The Newsletter Team Leader works with a group of other DLIA volunteers to identify articles in a variety of categories that would be of interest to the DLIA membership. The Team Leader also works with a local graphic designer, who prepares the content and photos into the Newsletter format and appearance DLIA members have seen and enjoyed in recent years.  The Newsletter is distributed electronically to most DLIA members.  A small number are printed by a local printer for hard copy distribution.
For approximately the last four years, Joan Hartwig has served as Newsletter Team Leader.  Thank you, Joan! Joan has decided it’s time for these duties to transition to another DLIA volunteer. Joan is hoping that a new Team Leader can be identified and would be available to work with her in April and May to learn the process as the Team prepares the 2022 May Newsletter.
Joan has prepared a detailed description of the Newsletter Team Leader position.  Please consider volunteering for this activity.  You do not need to be resident at the Lake year-round to perform the job.
Need a reminder of what’s been in recent Newsletters? Click on the DLIA/Publications link below:
