DLIA ANNUAL MEETING - AUGUST  22nd, 7:00 PM Gates Lecture Hall/UMBS
   
     We’re Back!!  The 2022 DLIA Membership Annual Meeting returns to the Biostation for its 53rd Annual Meeting, on Monday, August 22nd at the Gates Lecture Hall on the University of Michigan Biological Station (UMBS) campusRegistration begins at 6:00PM.  The meeting starts at 7:00PM.
     
     Our Guest Speaker is Dr. Aimee Classen, Director, UMBS and Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. Dr. Classen is concluding her first summer in residence at the Biostation.  She will share with us her vision of education and research in the future at the Biostation, and expanding public outreach with the Douglas Lake community. The business meeting will include a status report about the replacement of the Douglas Lake Boat Launch, selected committee reports, and election of new officers for terms beginning at the conclusion of the Annual Meeting. 
         
     The Nominating Committee, with the endorsement of the Executive Board, presents the following slate of officers for membership approval: President – Ron Witthoff; Vice President – Scott Davis; Secretary – Linda Woolcott.  This would be the first term for each of the nominated officers.  Nominations for these offices also will be accepted from the floor.
     
     Kelly Davis, Merchandise Chair, will have 2023 Douglas Lake calendars and DLIA’s publication by Holly Gedert, “The Loons of Maple Bay,” available for sale.

     Registration begins at 6:00PM.  Come early – enjoy the Bug Camp campus while catching up with DLIA friends and meeting new DLIA members.
If you cannot attend the meeting, please consider participating in the meeting by completing a Proxy form for the Officers’ election and giving it to your zone rep or a neighbor who will be attending the meeting on August 22nd. Click on link below for the 2022 DLIA Proxy Form:
Petoskey Annual Sidewalk Sales – Friday & Saturday July 29-30th
          The 57th Annual Sidewalk Sales in downtown Petoskey begin Friday, July 29th and continue on Saturday, July 30th.  Merchants move their stores, especially sale items, into the streets, and offer wares in a traditional, old-fashioned sidewalk sales venue.  Streets in Downtown Petoskey will be closed off to everything but foot traffic and sidewalk dining options are offered in many restaurants.
Sale dates/times:     Friday, July 29th  9 AM – 6 PM
                                     Saturday, July 30th 10 AM – 4 PM
Loon Magic! There are 8 loon chicks on Douglas Lake this year.
Note that the parents may separate from the chicks when threatened to draw attention away from the chicks. Please boat respectfully of other boaters and the loon families.

Only two summer sale dates left!!
     Shop these dates for the best selection of sizes, colors and styles. We are open for business from 10am to Noon on Saturday, August 13th and Saturday, September 3rd at the DL "store" located behind the Pellston Lodge on Hwy 31.
