Munro Township Requests Change of Jurisdiction for DL Boat Ramp Area
Cheboygan County Road Commission has announced a public hearing about Munro Township’s request for a change of jurisdiction over the road access to the DL Boat Ramp.  The announcement below is posted on the Munro Township web site:

Public Hearing Notice
Cheboygan County Road Commission will hold Public Hearing, Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 9:00 A.M., to Discuss relinquishment of jurisdiction its interest in the right of way of the platted road end access end of Douglas Lake Road terminating at Douglas Lake, Easterly 60 feet of the platted County Road lying on the North side of Lot 14 within the Supervisor Tom Baker's Plat of Bryant's Resort being a Part of Government Lots 1 & 2, Section 30, Town 37 North, Range 3 West, Munro Township, Cheboygan County, Michigan, as recorded in Liber 3 of Plats, Page 56, Cheboygan County Records, to Munro Township as requested of Munro Township Board.
Dana S. Sternpky, Clerk
Cheboygan County Road Commission

This change of jurisdiction gives Munro Township authority to oversee the DL Boat Ramp; this is a critical component of the boat ramp replacement project and necessary for the Township’s role in future oversight of the boat ramp. It would be helpful if DLIA members are supportive of this change of jurisdiction and, if possible, could attend the hearing to speak to the importance of the boat ramp replacement project.
Spring is Approaching

Canada geese are walking around on the ice of Douglas Lake.  Sandhill cranes are resting and feeding in the fields of MacArthur Farm.  Spring is coming, but not today.  In the near future, bears will be abandoning their favorite hibernation retreats and they will be hungry!  It is time to take down your bird feeders to prevent damage from foraging bears and minimize opportunities for risky encounters between bears and humans.
