This Memorial Day weekend, there are 4 nesting loon pairs on Douglas Lake. The eggs should be hatching in June.

2022 Douglas Lake Volunteer Boat Assist Team

The Douglas Lake (DL) Volunteer Boat Assist Team consists of residents of DL who have volunteered to assist stranded boaters due to a malfunctioning boat or motor.  These volunteers are not professional boat mechanics, but are willing to lend a hand and get you to shore.

Team members live in several areas around the lake.  Volunteers are listed according to the area in which they live.  If you need assistance, please call a volunteer living near the area where you are stranded.  Describe the type of problem you are experiencing, your location, type and color of your boat and how many people are on board.

The DL Boat Assist Team is available from May 29, 2022 to September 6, 2022.

We recommend you take a photo of the DL Volunteer Boat Assist Team with your cell phone or place a copy of the list in your boat.  Remember to take your cell phone with you when boating.

If you have a medical emergency or other life-threatening emergency, call 911.

DLIA’s Adopt-A-Hwy since 1996
Each year since 1996, a group of DLIA members has removed trash from two miles of U.S. Hwy 31; one mile each way from Van Road. This year’s May group collected 8 bags of trash and a large pile of junk that does not fit into a bag. Thank you to this group that held up to the 85-degree temperature.
Next pickups are the weeks of July 18 and September 26. Contact Rich Gedert to get on the email list – cleanup@douglaslake.org or call 231-537-3269.
