Updates on Maple River Projects
Chris Pierce, Project Manager & Biologist at Conservation Resource Alliance (CRA) has given DLIA an update about several local construction projects related to the Maple River project.  Below are several of timely interest:
  • East Branch Maple River/Robinson Rd Timber Bridge project (east of Pellston) will be kicking off mid-August 2022. Construction is anticipated to last about 6 weeks.
  • Van Creek/MDNR bike trail culvert replacement (north of Van Rd.) is scheduled for construction September/October time frame 2022.  Construction is anticipated to last about 2 weeks.
  • US-31Berm - the berm on the east side of US-31and north of Woodland Rd.  (Dam Site Inn is on Woodland Rd.) is being worked on. The landowner is building a cabin on the property and wanted a visual screen from the highway to the cabin. Pierce and contractors who built the berm have planted the field with native grasses and pollinator flowers and are working with the landowner on other conservation practices throughout their property.
Future eNews and November DLIA Newsletter will update status of these construction projects and other post-restoration work involving CRA’s Maple River project.
