Never fear! Support groups are here!
The JAMS Jcounseling program is proud to host a variety of groups to provide support to students who share similar experiences and to develop coping skills or gain tools to overcome challenges. Groups are FREE and take place during a non-academic class, lunch, or advisory period weekly starting in October for 8 sessions. Groups are optional.
If you are interested in your child participating in a counseling group, please turn in your completed permission slip to Ms. Asiaban (6th grade counselor), Mrs. Cowgill (7th grade counselor) or Ms. Check (8th grade counselor).

Attendance & what to do if your child is absent or leaving early:
ABSENCES
All absences and tardies must be excused by parents or guardians. Parents should report absences via the JAMS website (click on "Find It Fast" and then "Report an Absence"; or click here) or by leaving a phone message at 310-452-2326 x72201. Phone messages should include your child's name, ID number or birthdate, date of absences and a detailed reason for the absence.
LEAVING EARLY
Please let us know first thing in the morning if your child will be leaving school early. You may send your child with a note (to bring to the office before the start of school), fill out the online " Report an Absence" form or leave a detailed phone message at 310-452-2326 x72201. The note/message should contain your child's name, the time they will be leaving, the reason for leaving early and a phone number where you can be reached for verification. If advance notice is not given, please be patient with us as we locate your child and bring them to the office. This is especially important during lunch and nutrition when students are spread out all over campus.
Absences that are not cleared within 72 hours will be recorded as truant. For more information on attendance policies, please visit the JAMS website or refer to SMMUSD's Attendance FAQ page.
