Take part in a regional survey to assess the impact of COVID-19 on testing for HIV, viral hepatitis & STIs throughout the WHO European region
A EuroTEST-led consortium has developed an online survey to understand how this global crisis has affected testing services and how to mitigate its effects on the responses to the epidemics going forward.
The main objective of the survey is to assess the impact of COVID-19 on testing for HIV, HBV, HCV, chlamydia, syphilis and gonorrhoea among the different actors of the testing response including:
- laboratories
- secondary/specialist care
- primary health care units
- community organisations providing testing for one or more of these infections
- National level public health institutions or ministry of health level.
The survey is available in English and Russian and the deadline to complete has been extended to 13 November 2020.
We encourage you to take the survey by clicking here or copy pasting the following link into your browser: https://is.gd/EuroTESTCOVID19impact

WHO HIV recency assay review
WHO is conducting a review on the use of HIV recency assays in the context of national HTS programmes, with a focus on the individual-level, or clinical, use case. They are keen to collect information on recency assays currently being used by programmes and data (published or unpublished) related to use of these tools.
The review will broadly focus on the following:
- Summarize existing evidence on use of recency assays among clients and patients in HTS programmes and/or within HIV case surveillance activities
- Review their acceptability, feasibility and effectiveness (including cost-effectiveness)
- Identify implementation considerations and evidence on counselling messages and social harm
- Define uses of recency assays
If you would like to contribute, please complete their questionnaire and send to Virginia Fonner (fonner@musc.edu) by 30 November 2020.
