Warwick Community Kitchen

Started by Victoria Garloch in November 2011 as a Girl Scout Gold Award Project and as a Mission of Vision Community Church, the WCK offers monthly dinners to everyone in the community.

October Dinner Recap

Our October dinner was sponsored by CJ's Country Market in Pine Island.  We served lasagna, salad, bread and dessert.  Students from Tuxedo Park School came and volunteered at the dinner.  Thank you to CJ's and the students and parents of TPS who came to help.

Our One Year Anniversary Celebration

Our first dinner on November 18, 2011, served spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread and dessert to 58 guests.  We can not believe that a year has come and gone since then.  Please join us on Friday, November 16 for our One Year Celebration Dinner.  Thank you to all of our sponsors, volunteers and the Warwick Community for helping to make the Warwick Community Kitchen so successful.

Upcoming December Dinner

Our next dinner will be Friday, December 21 from 5:00-7:00 pm.  Santa will be arriving at 5:15 to deliver toys to the children.  Those toys are being provided through donations thanks to the hard work of the members of Vision Community Church.  The dinner is being sponsored by the Warwick Community and we have volunteers from Florida Girl Scouts coming to help.  At 6:15 we will be having a bi-lingual Christmas Service.
The Warwick Community Kitchen relies on sponsors, volunteers and donations in order to provide free meals to anyone who would like them.  Our partnership with Vision Community Church provides the WCK with a kitchen to cook the food in and the space to hold the dinners.  If you are a member of a group that would like to sponsor a dinner or an individual that would like to volunteer or make a donation, please click on the following link, scroll down past the "Needs" list and fill out and then submit the interest form.  http://warwickcommunitykitchen.weebly.com/donations-and-volunteering.html

Donations Needed
If you would like to make a toy donation for the December dinner please email us at warwickcommunitykitchen@gmail.com.  All toys should be wrapped and labeled with the gender and appropriate age for the gift.

Girl Scout Troop 627
We have started a Girl Scout Troop at our monthly dinners.  Any girl in Kindergarten through 12 grade is welcome to join the troop.  Meetings will take place during each monthly dinner.  We welcome any help with the troop as well as donations to purchase uniform pieces, patches, pins etc...  If you are interested in helping with Troop 627 please email us at warwickcommunitykitchen@gmail.com.

Actively Seeking Sponsors

We are planning the 2013 dinners at this time.  If you are interested in sponsoring a dinner, know someone, a business, group or organization that may like to sponsor a dinner or have questions about what is involved please email us at warwickcommunitykitchen@gmail.com.

Clothing Closet

The members of Vision Community Church decided to collect blankets and coats to offer at the first dinner.  Victoria ran with that idea and it expanded to clothing, coats, shoes, blankets, books, toiletries and home goods.  Out of that the Clothing Closet was born.  Run by members of Vision Church, they are open on Thursday 10:00-1:00, Saturday 10:00-1:00, Sunday 11:30-1:00 and during every WCK dinner.  The items of the Clothing Closet are free of charge.  In an effort to support this ministry, Vision Church has also opened the Hope Chest, a thrift store where designer brand items can be purchased.  The Hope Chest is open at the same time as the Clothing Closet but not during the WCK dinners.  Donations can be delivered during their regular operating hours on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.  Please do not bring donations during the WCK dinners.

Girl Scout Rebecca and Barrett's Upcoming Dinner Plans

At the November 16 dinner Rebecca will be serving Rice Pudding, another recipe from the cook book she is publishing for her Girl Scout Gold Award.  All of the recipes use items that one could get at a local food pantry.

Barrett will be there with cookies for the children to decorate.  Barrett is working with WCK to provide the monthly activities for the children.  She is doing this to earn her Girl Scout Bronze Award.
