Hello Friends and Art Lovers,
Happy May to everyone and welcome new subscribers! April was a fun month with new projects, events, and a quick getaway to Florida. Read on for the latest…
New Series in the Works
The past several months have been a time of exploration for me. I have been working on new ideas including paintings of the industrial buildings and grain silos near my studio. All the while though, I have had an overwhelming desire to paint craggy crepe myrtle trees. I have given in and am happily working on this new “tree” series. I would love for you to visit me in my studio to check out these new works as well as paintings from the Neighborhood Series. Please email me: cs_reeder@sbglobal.net or call: 713-417-5305 to schedule an appointment for you or your group!
Luck of the Draw
I’m honored to be participating in Luck of the Draw for the third year. Luck of the Draw is a party and fundraiser for DiverseWorks where attendees draw a number, and when their number is called, get to choose a original works from local, national and international artists. Silence (shown above) will be up for grabs. The event is Thursday, May 14th from 7-10 p.m. More information is here.

Wyoming or bust - I hope!
I have been wait listed for an artist residency at the Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts in Saratoga, Wyoming. I've been dreaming of doing this for a while so please keep your fingers crossed for me. I'll let you know when you can uncross them!

My inspiration this month is walking. I just got back from a trip to Sanibel Island off the west coast of Florida, where I spent many hours walking on the beach. The act of walking brings me into a Zen-like state, where my mind is calmed, and memories and ideas spring forth. On this beach with its smooth sand and soothing waves, I walked until my calves ached, took a break, and walked some more. Whenever I have a dilemma or a creative issue that I need to solve, I go for a walk and always come back with an answer.
Thank you walking!

That’s the news and musings for now, thanks for reading. Remember, my studio is open to you anytime--just contact me to make an appointment. I hope to see you soon enjoying art!
All the best,
