I had the pleasure of doing some plein air painting with my sister Joan during a recent visit to Santa Fe. We drove out to Abiquiu, which is where Georgia O'Keeffe found inspiration for so many of her iconic works and lived for many years. The scenery is such that is begs to be painted; craggy candy striped mountains and mesas, expansive bluest blue skies and excessive beauty all around. As O'Keeffe said, "out here, half your work is done for you." I had a wonderful time being with my sister, enjoying the scenery, and slapping paint around.
