News from Artist Cary Reeder, April 2015
Hello Friends and Art Lovers,
Welcome to Spring and my April newsletter! As you will notice, I’ve redesigned this baby and plan to make it a monthly happening to keep you updated on my comings and goings. I hope you enjoy it! Read on…
Welcome to My World
I've been hiding out and making new creations but will open my studio on Saturday, April 18th from 3-9 p.m., for the Spring Biannual Art Opening & Charity Show at Winter Street Studios. Please stop by studio #28c upstairs, I’d love to see you! This piece (left) will be part of the show benefiting Memorial Park Conservancy—all works are only $100. For more information, click here.
Going National and
Up the Road a Bit
I'm excited to report that my art went national this year! My paintings were in juried shows in Atlanta, Cambridge, and Raleigh during January-February 2015. Closer to home, I will have two paintings in the Texas National 2015 exhibition at the Cole Art Center in Nacogdoches, Texas from April 11-June 13th.

You Did What For 8 Hours?
Ever wonder what artists do when we are away from your prying eyes? I will be sharing “a day in the life of an artist” stories and other art making fun on my blog. Read it here.

My Follow-Up to
Fifty Shades of Grey
Oh, I kid. I have published a book but it’s not that kind of book, it’s a book of my paintings. "Neighborhood Series," is a compilation of many of my house paintings in a snazzy 7” x 7” format. It is available through Amazon.com or at my studio. Preview it here.
i n s p i r a t i o n   o f   t h e   m o n t h
This month I was inspired by On Drawing, a symposium at Rice University. It was coordinated by the artist Natasha Bowdoin, who I am in absolute awe of, and had a panel with Menil Collection curator Michelle White, Claire Gilman from the Drawing Center, and artist Robyn O’Neil. I left inspired to draw more, not to become a better draftswoman but to do it for the joy of it, to spur my creativity, and to play with ideas before committing to a gigantic painting. I also left as a big fan of Michelle White, who is incredibly wise and said so many things that resonated with me as an artist. I shall now hang on her every word!

That’s the news and musings for now, thanks for reading. Remember, my studio is open to you anytime--just contact me to make an appointment. I hope to see you soon enjoying art!

All the best,

P. S. I've started Instagramming and it's really fun! If you're into that stuff, follow me here.
