Hello Tennyson parents,

The second Hot Lunch ordering session of the year will be open Jan 15 - 24!

But before I share the details ...
Due to cancellations, there is still space for 2 students in the Gr 1 - 3 Karate Class on Fridays at noon hour. Please contact Gloria at noonhourprograms@lordtennyson.ca for more info or to register your child. Thank you to Gloria for all of the hours of work on Tennyson's Noon Hour Programs!

Lunch Ordering Info
This session covers lunches in February - April.
New participants - please be aware that ordering this week does not mean that your child will get lunches next week. The first lunch of this session is Feb 2 (fun fact - Feb 2 is Groundhog Day!)

Parents - please talk to your child before you place their order. I know, this should go without saying, but we have so many sweet children complaining to the volunteers about what their parents have ordered for them.
Speaking of volunteers - WOW!  THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Words cannot explain how many parents appreciate what you are doing. Lunches would not happen without volunteers and the team this year is amazing! Thank you to everyone.

The MunchaLunch link can be found at www.lordtennyson.ca (bottom-left). If you are new to lunch ordering, you will need to create an account first. Once you hit "submit my order", your order has been submitted even if you do not pay immediately. If you need to make changes, email hotlunches@lordtennyson.ca.

Options
Pizza Wednesdays (Menu 1 & Menu 2 ... see info below)
Panago pizza will continue to be offered on Wednesdays (cheese or pepperoni slice).
Drink options are chocolate milk or regular milk. The juices have been removed (sorry for any inconvenience ... this is to make life a bit easier for those great volunteers I mentioned above).
The treat option is TCBY frozen yogurt (nutrition info here) (choc/van swirl, cotton candy, and dairy-free orange sorbet).

Sushi Mondays (Menu 1 & Menu 2 ... see info below)
Sushi will continue to be provided by Sushi Aoki (located at Broadway and Cypress).
Sushi options include California roll, cucumber roll, avocado roll, salmon roll (they use wild salmon for school lunches), tuna roll, edamame, and chicken teriyaki.
Sushi Mondays are ZERO WASTE - no drinks or treats are on the menu - please send a water bottle for your child.
They can put their water bottle in the division bin after eating and it will be returned to the classroom.

Bonus Calhoun's Fridays
There are 2 Friday lunches this session - Feb 20 (the day after a ProD day) and April 10.
The fruit cups were delicious but too labour-intensive ... they have been removed. No treats or drinks offered with the Friday lunches (your bank account will thank me).
Menu options are butter chicken on rice, mac & cheese, chicken penne alfredo, and penne with meatballs. Small and large size to choose from ($5.25 & $6.25).

I would not go so far as to say that volunteers are currently "needed" but I will say that they are ALWAYS welcome. It is a great way to connect with students and meet other parents (and see your child at lunch).
Time commitment is 11:30am - 12:30pm on the lunch day and there is no need to commit to every week.
Please contact Toni Botham if you would like to volunteer (or sign up when you place your order).

Menu 1 & Menu 2: What does it mean?
Both Sushi Monday and Pizza Wednesday are set up as Menu 1 & Menu 2.  They cover alternating weeks (to save time when ordering but still allow flexibility with the options).
Order from BOTH Menus (1 & 2) if you want lunches every week!  If you only order from Pizza Menu 1, your child will get pizza every second week.
Want lunches only once or twice a month?  Planning a family vacation? You can easily remove any days at the END of ordering (keep going until the end!).

**** If you do not receive a Munchalunch reminder email, your child will not have a lunch provided. **** Please send one!
We can only provide what was actually ordered (not what you hoped to or intended to order) … we are good, but not THAT good!
You can log in to Munchalunch anytime to check your orders. Use the My Account - View My Orders tab.

Your questions will always be cheerfully answered (well, almost always - it is a volunteer position after all) … email HotLunches@lordtennyson.ca

Proceeds from lunches go towards sending next year's Gr 7 students to Quebec, the Quebec Futures Fund, and PAC fundraising.
Did I mention "THANK YOU TO THE VOLUNTEERS"?
