Hi Tennyson parents,
Here is more info than you may want but it is all important so pull out your calendar and make sure you are not missing anything (like forgetting to pick your child up at the upcoming 2pm dismissal next Wed!). I think this may be the longest one yet ... grab a cup of coffee and enjoy being "in the know".
1. Noon Hour Programs
Registration has begun and some classes are already full. You can register using Munchalunch (bottom left of www.lordtennyson.ca
... be sure to use the yellow "fundraising open" tab once logged in).
Due to popular demand, Janine the Jenius, our noon hour science instructor, has agreed to open up a couple of more spots in her two science programs: Science is a Gas (Mondays); and Science: Planet Earth (Tuesdays). See website for program description. Please email the noon hour coordinator at NoonHourPrograms@lordtennyson.ca if you would like to put your child on the wait-list for one of these spots. Spaces will be allocated on a first come / first serve basis; however priority will be given to children who are not yet registered in one of the classes already.
2. Student-led Conferences
These conferences will run Wed, April 1 and Thu, April 2. The 2pm early dismissal will be on Wed only!
Forms from teachers should have come home this week.
3. Scholastic Book Fair (English)
Runs Monday - Thursday next week. This is a great opportunity to earn book credits for your child’s classroom, the resource teachers and the library, at the same time as building your library at home. Proceeds from the fair are given as book credits to the Library, ALL Classrooms and the Learning Assistance programs. The more books you buy, the more books Tennyson gets too!
Before school: 8:45-9:00
After school: Mon/Tues/Thurs: 2:45-3:30*
*We will stay open as long as possible after school especially during conference days depending on volunteers available.
We need volunteers for set up on Friday afternoon March 27th from 1-3pm as well as during the Book Fair hours. If you are available for even one of the above shifts please email Nana Yenson at firstname.lastname@example.org with the days/times that you are available.
4. PAC Budget Survey for 2015/16 budget
Public funds cover basic education at Lord Tennyson. A key purpose of money raised by Tennyson parents is to provide additional programmes and educational resources beyond those provided by the VSB and government to enhance the educational experience provided to our children.
Now is the time for YOU to share your opinions on the best way to spend our (PAC’s) fund-raised dollars. Please take five minutes to complete our 2015-16 PAC Budget Survey.
Your PAC Executive is required to prepare and present the 2015-16 budget for approval at the June 2015 Annual General Meeting. To facilitate this process, the survey provides each Tennyson parent with the opportunity to provide input and suggestions regarding possible 2015-16 PAC budgetary items.
The deadline for completing this brief survey is April 9. The survey link will be on the Tennyson home page until that time: http://fluidsurveys.com/surveys/lt-pac/2015-16-lord-tennyson-pac-budget-survey/
6. Bike To School Week Planning Meeting - Wed, April 8 at 9am
5. Purdy's Orders
Thank you to those who supported the Purdy's ordering ... the orders will be available for pick up next week on Mon - Wed before and after school (look for a helpful volunteer in the lobby). We are unable to distribute to children (VSB guidelines) but if you would like your order delivered to TOSS or the Y, please email Angie at email@example.com
If you are interested in volunteering (thank you to those who have already offered to help) please email firstname.lastname@example.org
and plan to attend our upcoming planning meeting on Wednesday, April 8 at 9 AM (right after drop off) in the staff room.
Bike to School Week will be May 25-29 and the Zero Waste Committee has many activities planned for the week! We hope everyone will be able to participate.
Prizes are still being collected for the Math-a-thon which will be held on April 24 (more info still to come). If you have prizes to donate (toys, fun pencils, pens, books, games, gift cards, anything you can think of ...), please contact Jane at email@example.com
and be ready to hand them in next week. You can always hand prizes over to me (Toni) and I will pass them along (I promise!).
