Volume 6 Issue 12 - 12 November 2015

NECF Changes to Negotiated Connections, Unmetered Supply & Embedded Generation

The National Energy Customer Framework (NECF) came into effect on 1 July 2015.  Energex is continuing to streamline processes to ensure these obligations and customer’s needs are met.

Under the new obligations, all new connections and alterations to existing connections now require a Connection Application & Agreement prior to any work commencing.

New portal changes will be introduced to handle the Negotiated Connection types relating to the following services:
  • Commercial, Industrial and Large Customer Connections;
  • Embedded generation over 5kVA; and
  • Standard connection of unmetered supply.
From 15 November, all connections including embedded generation will require a CONNECT application using the Electrical Partners Portal.  All Large Customer Connections and Embedded Generation greater than 30kVA will also require an Enquiry prior to the CONNECT application.

In addition, for Embedded Generation connections, an Enquiry must be submitted before the CONNECT application for systems between 3kVA and 5kVA where the power factor will not be set at 0.9 lagging.  Refer Connection Standard Small Scale Parallel IES up to 30kVA.

The Enquiry and CONNECT application forms can be found under the MyCONNECT menu in the Electrical Partners Portal.  If you need help completing these applications, training materials can be found under the Support menu.

Energex Portal Outages this weekend

The Electrical Partners Portal and Customer Portal will be unavailable this weekend between 8.00am Saturday 14 November to 5.00pm Sunday 15 November, to allow for system maintenance and implementation of the NECF changes as outlined above.

If you are logged into the portal during this time you will be automatically logged out.  We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

CONNECT Requests for 3 phase supply or increase in load

Please remember that when lodging and expediting a CONNECT request for either a 3 phase upgrade or increase in load, the offer by Energex does not confirm that the supply requested is actually available to the premises.

Please take some time to confirm what network exists at the premise (single phase / 3 phase network, spare fuses etc) and if unsure, follow the process below to lodge an Enquiry to confirm Supply Availability.  This will assist in reducing possible delays to the connection of your customers premise.

After this weekend, the CONNECT application screen in the Electrical Partners Portal will remind you of this .

If you select Existing you are confirming that the existing Energex network is sufficient to meet your connection requirements at this premise (that is, the network has the required number of phases and spare fuses in the pillar).

If you select Required, an Enquiry will need to be entered for an investigation of existing network availability.  Please note, that a request over 100amps will require an Enquiry to be raised first.
