NECF Workshop Questions, NECF Changes & ACS Connection Services Fees and Charges

NECF Workshops - Frequently Asked Questions

Throughout May and early June, we had the opportunity to discuss the NECF changes with more than 900 electrical contractors through the NECF Ready Workshops.  During these workshops, many questions were raised about the new process and how it will affect you and your customers.

Please visit our website for a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

NECF Changes - Submission of CONNECTs

As reported in our last Electrical Contractor Update, a CONNECT (i.e a Network Connection Agreement) must now be submitted for new connection requests and any alteration of an existing connection (between network and premises).  Please refer to Volume 6 Issue 5 for more information, or refer to the instructions on how to submit a CONNECT.

ACS Connection Services - Fees and Charges

The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) determines the classification of services provided by Distribution Network Service Providers.  The cost of these services can either be directly charged to the customer or recovered through revenue obtained from all customer network tariffs.  Services that can be directly charged to the customer are classified by the AER as Alternative Control Services (ACS).  In previous years the fees associated with the Connection Services have been subsidised by the general customer base through Energex's network tariffs.

The Energex website has been updated to include an information sheet outlining the fees and charges applicable to customers and developers for Connection Services from 1 July 2015.
