Summer News is
Good News

The Best Western Hollywood Hills Hotel and the Otis Booth Campus of Children’s Institute Inc. in Los Angeles, CA, received awards this year. The hotel remodel revived a piece of Hollywood and was honored by the Westside Urban Forum. The Children's Institute Inc. was also recognized by the Westside Urban Forum and received two national awards including an
AIA Honor Award for Interior Architecture and a Contract Magazine Interiors Award . This project provides a community center and resource to serve children and families exposed to violence. We are amazed at what this organization does in a couple of converted warehouses, and convinced that architecture has helped set the free spirited mood and facilitate program opportunities.
Pico Branch Library
Pico Branch Library broke ground last week at Virginia Avenue Park, Santa Monica. There  was a great turnout for this event and all look forward to seeing a much-needed neighborhood resource materialize. The Pico Branch is slated to be the first LEED Platinum library in Los Angeles when it opens in November 2013. View renderings of the library here.
28th Street Apartments New Facade
28th Street Apartments
historic restoration and addition for Clifford Beers Housing is just about finished! The original YMCA, designed by noted African American architect, Paul Williams in 1926, is being carefully restored and will offer  community services and supportive housing.  New housing has been added in the rear. The design challenge was to add to a significant structure in a compatible but distinctly contemporary way.  The project features a vertical photo voltaic system and is targeted for LEED Gold.
