YES Prep’s Leading Houston Forward Luncheon taking place October 11 at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts

The event will honor Janet Clark for her inspirational leadership and fervent commitment to YES Prep. Clark served as a YES Prep governing board member for almost two decades and currently leads the YES Prep Board of Trustees as founding chair.

Event leadership includes Eliza and Stuart Stedman serving as honorary chairs with event co-chairs Madeline & Drew Masterson and Ann & Richard Vaughan. The keynote speaker is Ruth J. Simmons, President of Prairie View A&M University.

Class of 2018

Orlando Valdez is currently attending the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) where he is majoring in Political Science. He is the first member of his family to attend college.

Valdez shares about his Hurricane Harvey experience and what inspired him to pursue a career in law.

"My goal is to become an attorney and lead with my values of equity and social justice. [...] I know that when I choose to act, good things follow. My experience with Harvey showed me just that. One individual can make a difference."

New Project to Empower Parents and Students with Real-Time Data

YES Prep Public Schools is pleased to announce the launch of its new family portal project which will provide real-time data to students and their families to support college readiness efforts. Through a one-year collaboration grant with the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, YES Prep will develop a new parent-facing data system architecture that will dramatically improve engagement and ultimately boost student achievement outcomes.

Rebuild Texas Fund awards YES Prep $165,870 to support students affected by Hurricane Harvey

One year after Hurricane Harvey, not all YES Prep students and their families have fully recovered from the devastation brought by the storm. Yet we remain committed to ensuring every student can reach their maximum potential. To that end, YES Prep recently received a grant from the Rebuild Texas Fund, which will provide uniform essentials and graphing calculators to students who were impacted by Hurricane Harvey and are in need of these school-year necessities.
