Developing Outstanding Teachers

Taking Teachers to the Next Level

At first, I was hesitant to make the move because of all the stories I’d heard about charter schools. But at the same time I wanted to be fully developed and pushed as a teacher. That’s when I decided to reach out to people I knew who were going through the YES Prep teacher pipeline. Their feedback was, “if you are craving teacher development, this is the place for you.” I’m glad I made the switch because I have grown tremendously these past two years.

My Summer Experience at Coronado National Forest

Irvin Ortega - Student, YES Prep Southeast

"Thanks to this trip I realized how much I truly care about the environment, and that I want to do something to help maintain it. I want to inform others not only about the impact they have on the environment but also what they can personally do to help it. I also learned that I love being outside and, in the future, I do not want to work in an office setting. I want to be out in the field. I am curious by nature and seek out adventure."

All-Inclusive Parent Portal in the Works

A one-stop shop to see your child's progress
Our goal at YES is to not only prepare each of our students to be college-ready but to also empower parents in helping their child through this high school to college journey. Knowing how your son or daughter is doing throughout the year is key in knowing how to support them. Thanks to the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, we are currently working on a parent portal that will make different student information accessible from one location.

My Journey from a YES Prep Student Desk to a Local TV Station News Desk

Ilse M. Gonzalez, North Central Alumna

I was born in Houston, Texas and raised by my dad and mom in a Northside Houston home. My dad, my brother, my sister, and I all went to the same elementary school but the neighborhood wasn’t the safest nor was the middle school across the street the best option to get us ready for high school and college, so we moved. My parents had heard of YES Prep and what they stood for, so they couldn’t pass up the opportunity to ensure my brother and I not only got into college, but were prepared for it.
