The long rumored clearing of Bali Hai Pier is also a reality as confirmed by this recent article in the Bangkok Post. Boats are no longer allowed to dock there. As this is being written, boats on trailers on the land adjacent to the pier are being removed by the army. Violation of this ban is subject to up to 3 years in prison and a fine of 10,000 baht. Is Walking Street next in line?

It may be too early to determine what the full impact on property values will be. But it seems clear that cleaning up land which has long been misused should have a positive effect on surrounding areas. This author believes that prices for residences in the nearby Na Jomtien area will certainly increase.
