Spread the Seuss!

March, beautiful March! Our favorite month of the year! We embrace all that March has to offer us here in the Northeast - the mixed bag of precipitation, the onset of cabin fever, the daily battle between the lion and the lamb - Why, you ask? Because March is National Reading Month! We envision that this means ALL kids across America celebrating the joy of reading ALL MONTH LONG! This month comes but once a year, kicking off with Dr. Seuss' Birthday and NEA's Read Across America Day on March 2.

March will find us busy collecting books from one of our favorite authors, Dr. Seuss, in order to give them directly to children served by CLiF's At-Risk Children program.

CLiF will serve tens of thousands of kids through partnerships with over 120 organizations across New Hampshire and Vermont this year. Most of these children have few, if any, books of their own at home, and are at risk of growing up with low literacy skills.

Research has show that, regardless of nationality, parents' education level or economic status, a child's access to books in the home is one of the greatest indicators of their academic success. That is why donating a book means so much! This National Reading month, will you join us in getting books into the hands of children who need them the most?

Warm wishes,

Duncan, Meredith, Jana, Tracy, and Stephanie

CLiF Turns 18!

Happy Birthday CLiF! CLiF's Founder and Executive Director, Duncan McDougall, reflects:

"When CLiF started I was a volunteer Executive Director and the only staff member. Now, including staff, Directors, Advisors, professional presenters, and volunteers, some 100 people are actively involved in running our nonprofit, almost 700 generous donors fund our programs, and we've served more than 180,000 low-income, at-risk, and rural children in 400+ towns. It's so exciting for me to watch the CLiF family expand year after year. I can't wait to see what the next 18 years will bring!"

Here's to another 18 years of inspiring a love of reading and writing among children throughout New Hampshire and Vermont! Thank you for supporting us!
