Advent in Unalakleet
Advent is a season of awaiting Christ’s second coming as we join in remembering His first coming to save us from the darkness of sin and death. Advent comes from the Latin adventus which means 'coming.'
The People of God yearned for a Messiah for centuries. In Advent, we remember this longing and join in the longing. We pray now, with the expectant hope that God will come and expand his Kingdom among all who gather at our 'point of land' on the North River again this summer, even as we long for Christ's return. I expect to always remember summer 2013. The staff were unified in their mission to live out and share the Good News with campers and to build each other up. God provided people to pay for scores of kids to come to camp who otherwise would not have the chance. We saw lives, hurts, doubts, and sins surrendered to Christ. A small foretaste of what is to come. It was an awesome time of building and learning how to persevere in the face of temptation, trial, and doubt. Many came and served from near and far to improve the facility in Jesus' name. Our God is faithful.
This coming summer - we will have several hundred kids return to hear God's word, worship, play, and experience life together in a safe place. As we anticipate Christ's first and second coming, we also anticipate his coming into the hearts and lives of our campers this summer. We pray many will hear and respond to the Gospel they hear and see lived out among the staff.
Looking Out - The Need
This year, please join us in praying God would provide $15,000.00 for camper scholarships- which would cover the registration costs for 100 campers to attend Bible Camp. Right now, we are roughly 1/3 of the way towards commitments to the goal. Please prayerfully consider making a tax deductible, year-end contribution to our Scholarship Fund through our website through the button below - or you can always write a check to "Covenant Bible Camp" and mail it to Covenant Bible Camp; PO Box 202; Unalakleet, AK, 99684. We hope to see you in Unalakleet this summer. Please keep in touch!
Grace and Peace,
