Moore Accountancy Update

Mixed feelings in the office today - the disappointment of the football result, tempered with knowing how great it was that England got to the UEFA Euro final. Followed by confirmation that the Government has annouced the relaxation of Covid restrictions from 19/07/21.

Moore Accountancy will continue with hybrid working for the forseeable future, as on the whole it works with the team dynamics and their welfare, both mentally and physically.
Emails will continue to be passed to the relevant team member and dealt with as if they were in the office.

Holidays are back on, and many of the team will be taking a break in the UK.
Please therefore check the automatic out of office responder for when people are away, and be aware that there may be a delay in responses from those covering the work load.

We hope you have a good Summer and will update you with our next newsletter in September.

If you have missed any of our previous newsletters, then our website has a backlog of them here.

SELF EMPLOYED INCOME SUPPORT SCHEME (SEISS)

SEISS version 5
The grants to self-employed individuals whose businesses have been impacted by coronavirus has been extended to cover the period May 2021 to September 2021 (fifth grant).

The online claims service for the fifth grant were published on 06/07/21 and will be available from late July 2021.
Find out more about the fifth grant.

If you believe you are eligible and need us to file your SATR 2020/21 then please send us over your records as soon as possible, with a covering note saying you wish to apply for the SEISS v5, and we will work hard to get this completed in time for the 30/09/21 application deadline.

Check if you need to change your Self-Assessment return for SEISS
HMRC are amending certain tax returns.

If we have already submitted your 2020-2021 Self-Assessment tax return online, and you have claimed a Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) grant during 2020 or 2021, then HMRC may have made an adjustment to your return if:
•    the amount of the SEISS payments put in the SEISS box does not match their records
•    there was no SEISS amount entered
•    you did not submit a Self-Employment or partnership page (SA103 or SA104) and received SEISS payments

If you receive a letter regarding this, then please scan it through to us urgently so that we can compare their letter to the information that you provided to us.

FURLOUGH GRANT REDUCES TO 70% FOR JULY

For the month of July the CJRS Furlough grant support from the government via HMRC reduces to 70% of the employee’s usual pay for hours not worked.

This is despite the fact that “Freedom Day” in England has been delayed four weeks to 19 July 2021, and is apparently now called “Terminus Day”.

The government support to employers will then reduce to 60% in August and September.

VAT DEFERRAL DUE TO COVID 19

The VAT deferral new payment scheme has now closed.
Any deferred VAT outstanding after 30 June 2021 will be treated as debt and may be subject to a penalty.
