Principal of Universal Mechanical and Universal Plumbing Company
Trey Giglio, Principal of Universal Mechanical and Universal Plumbing Company, is a strong community leader that the Military Affairs Council is proud to have!
["The MAC enables civilians to support the mission of BAFB.  Barksdale is integral to the success of our region in terms of economic impact and future economic development.  The Barksdale impact on our nation's security and overall defense strategy is something that I am very proud of.  It is important that we use the MAC as a vehicle to support the personnel and leadership at Barksdale using our networks to assist them both in their professional duties and their life in our community outside of work.
It is an honor to lead Celebrate Barksdale this year.  I look forward to working with our team of volunteers to show our appreciation to all of the men and women at Barksdale through great food, music, games, and fellowship at our annual event."

As a native of Shreveport, Trey graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Mechancial Engineering from Texas A&M University and since has served on numerous boards of the university. Professionally, as principal of Universal Mechanical and Universal Plumbing, he holds master licenses in plumbing, mechanical, electrical, general construction and municipal and public works construction amongst other certifications. In 2010, his firm was recognized by BusinessWeek as one of the 100 fastest growing inner-city based companies in the U.S. and in 2011, was named Louisiana's Business of the Year.

His community services extend to other organizations like the Rotary Club of Shreveport, Petroleum Club, Junior Achievement, Caddo Career and Technology Center Foundation, Ark-La-Tex Ambassadors and Cotillion Club, Shreveport Chamber of Commerce's 40 under 40 class and recently the 2018 Chairman of the Independence Bowl Foundation, which was the culmination of a six-year Executive Committee term and still serves on numerous committees. Trey, in 2020, was appointed Honorary commander of the U.S. Air Force 2nd Mission Support Group at Barksdale Air Force Base. All of this and he still has spare time which he fills with NCAA football officiating and serving as VP and Treasurer of the Shreveport Football Association.  He is married to Sarah Giglio, local attorney.
A message from Eric Barkley, MAC President
I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and 2022 brings good things to you and your family!
Along with the rest of society, the Military Affairs Council is still dealing with the effects of COVID as we navigate through our normal meetings and activities.  In the last half of 2021, we hosted two outstanding membership meetings and a very enjoyable Christmas Social.  If you haven't taken advantage of those opportunities please consider doing so in 2022.   The Celebrate Barksdale activities all were successfully completed and the funds were used to make a generous contribution to Operation Bright Holiday.  And we continue to provide scholarships and recognition awards to deserving men and women serving in our United States Air Force.  Please know that your membership is vital in supporting the personnel and mission of Barksdale Air Force Base.
With the recent COVID uptick things are a little bit murky, but know that we plan to continue our membership meetings with appropriate precautions.  We're also planning a Spring Social and are looking at fun venues and food.  Stay posted for that!  The work of the MAC continues and we are grateful for your involvement!
International Council of Air Shows (ICAS)
Preparation for Barksdale Defenders of Liberty Air Show 2023
This past December representatives from the MAC attended the annual International Council of Air Shows in Las Vegas in early preparation for the Barksdale Defenders of Liberty Air Show in 2023.  Virtually every air show held in the United States sends representatives and the MAC has been in attendance for decades.  The annual event is important to the planning of the Barksdale show even though it is still over a year away.
The highlight of the convention is the announcement of the jet team schedules.  All the major jet teams from the Thunderbirds to the Blue Angels and the Canadian Snowbirds to the British Red Arrows roll out their upcoming schedules at the event, including their 2023 slate.  The MAC team went to the event with fingers crossed to get the Blue Angels (as we most recently enjoyed the Thunderbirds at the 2021 show) and were thrilled when our air show date of March 25-26, 2023, showed up on the famous Navy flight demonstration team.
The work done at ICAS goes well beyond securing the jet team.  It is where relationships are formed and discussions are held with future acts who may end up performing at Barksdale.  The Barksdale show is well regarded in air show circles and the earlier date in 2023 will be appealing.  Many of our favorite regular performers as well as the air show boss, announcer, sound providers and the like pencil in our date, while we also look for some new acts to keep the show fresh.
ICAS is also a unique opportunity to attend a variety of seminars that provide insight on air show best practices, new trends, how to communicate with the groups that schedule and manage the military aviation teams, and a myriad of other valuable topics.
The year will go by fast and there is much work to be done in preparation for a successful air show.  The MAC's support of the Barksdale Air Show is critical to its success.  The ICAS convention is one of the key events that makes our air show a flying success!
