Feather River Tourism Management District

April 2022, Vol. 2

Make Sure Your Business or Property Is Listed!
The new Discover Plumas County website will launch in late spring. The current website, while outdated, receives 100,000+ annual visitors and after launch we expect to double the number of visitors to the site. The new website will be optimized for mobile viewing and much more user-friendly.

Lodging Providers
The website will have an interactive lodging section where prospective visitors can search for lodging that fits their needs. If you have not yet submitted your property, please do so! Submit here >

Restaurants, Entertainment, Retail, Guides + Event Organizers
Along with lodging, the website will have extensive info on what there is to see and do in the area. If you are a restaurant, bar, retail, event organizer or guide service, we want to make sure we have complete and accurate information for prospective visitors. Listings will include a short description, contact info and a picture. If you haven't already done so, it is not to late to submit below.

Spread the word!
Please forward this email to others and encourage businesses to be listed on the new website. The more robust the site is, the more useful it will be to website visitors and help drive visitors to Plumas County. So it will help us all!

Event Planners: Marketing Grants Are Now Available

FRTA has established a Special Event Grant Program for special events as part of the District Management Plan relating to regional marketing.

The Grant Program will have a central theme of promoting each region as a desirable place for overnight visitation. FRTA Directors representing each region make decisions regarding the use of funds dedicated to their respective region.

The goal of FRTMD as well as the Special Event Grant Program is to increase overnight visitation and room night sales at assessed businesses.

The regions of the FRTMD are described below and shown in detail on the map in Section IV:

  • Quincy, Bucks Lake
  • Lake Almanor, Chester, and Canyon Dam
  • Greenville, Crescent Mills, Taylorsville, Feather River Canyon

The first round of grants opened April 1 and will close May 30. Grants will be made up to $2500. Preference will be given to events during the October to May season.

Grant Program Purpose
The purpose of the Grant Program is to promote eligible tourism activities and or infrastructure development that will increase overnight stays with lodging providers within the district. The source of these funds come from the 2% assessment.

About Us
The Feather River Tourism Association (FRTA), a 501c6 corporation, is responsible for executing the Feather River Tourism District Management Plan. The District and the plan are in effect starting January 2021 and ending in 2015.  Our task is to work to improve and develop the tourism economy of the communities of the Lake Almanor Basin, Indian Valley, Feather River Canyon, Quincy and Bucks Lake to specifically benefit the lodging providers who fund the district.

Annual Report
FRTA directors presented an annual report to the Plumas County Board of Directors in March. The Annual report includes work accomplished in 2021 along with the annual budget for 2022. Download Annual Report Here.

The work of FRTA will directly benefit lodging and restaurants in the region by enhancing revenues, while other positive effects are expected to ripple throughout the economy.
