Ash Wednesday: Is This The Fast I Choose?

As we begin the Lenten season, we would like to invite you to join us for our Ash Wednesday service. This special service will be held on Wednesday, February 22, at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary of our church, and will also be streamed on our youtube channel.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season, a time of reflection and repentance. During the service, we will receive ashes on our foreheads as a symbol of our mortality and our need for forgiveness. We will also have a time of prayer and meditation, as we prepare our hearts for the journey of Lent.

As we practice seeking this Lent, what kind of fast will you choose? How will you live your faith? How will you live the questions of your faith? In our spiritual practices, will we seek to loose the bonds of injustice, to undo the thongs of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? (Isaiah 58:6)

A Way Other Than Our Own: Devotions for Lent.

Carol Hodges will lead a class on Wednesday evenings during Lent from 7-8pm on Zoom, and Thursday mornings in-person at the Church from 10:30-11:30am.

"A Way Other Than Our Own," written by theologian Walter Brueggemann, is a series of daily Lenten reflections. Participants read these brief reflections each day on their own time and then discuss them in greater depth each week during small group meetings.
