When we love, when we lose.

It has been a sorrowful time. Our parishioners have lost family members, and our congregation has lost a beloved parishioner. We keep Diane Thornton, the Eversley family, and the Clewell families in our prayers, and today we are planning a service for Sue Brookman, who passed away on Wednesday morning.

In these times of grief, we do what we can do. We all know the emptiness that comes with loss, and that knowledge serves to help us support our friends. It is the call made, the card sent, the casserole delivered that can provide unexpected solace. And not just today. Grief comes in waves. Our support is for today and next week, and even next month.

And in times like this when events are like a tsunami, we are reminded to hold our beloveds close. We are reminded to call that friend whom we haven't seen for a while. To visit the person who can't get out. To slow life down, have a cup of coffee, and catch up. And say a prayer.
