This week join us for Holy Communion outside at 9:00 am.
Masks and social distancing will be required.
We'll gather online for worship with our guest preacher at 10:30 am. The Diocese has encouraged us to refrain from indoor worship
as Baltimore has emerged as a COVID hotspot.

Guest Preachers

Our preacher for April 18 is Derrick Weston. He is a former Presbyterian minister who for the last five years has been involved in community-based organizing work in the city of Baltimore. He manages the Rockrose community farm on the city's east end. Derrick received his Masters of Divinity from San Francisco Theological Seminary, a certification in health ministry from Wesley Theological seminary and was a part of the Re:Generate Fellowship on food, faith, and ecology through Wake Forest University. Derrick is the co-host of the Food and Faith Podcast and he and his wife Shannon have four children and live outside of Baltimore. Listen to his podcast here. https://foodandfaithpodcast.podbean.com/ Welcome Derrick!

Creation Care Sunday

On Sunday, April 25, our guest preacher is the Presiding Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Elizabeth Eaton. The sermon is made possible by Lutherans Restoring Creation, a grassroots movement promoting care for creation in the ELCA.

This is accomplished by cultivating a network of dedicated stewards of earth and neighbor who proclaim God’s promise of hope and healing for all.

Synod Assembly & Diocesan Convention

This year’s Delaware-Maryland Synod assembly, we celebrate the theme, Lord, Teach Us to Pray...Brief faith practices will be included around that theme – and our Lutheran Youth Organization will lead us in worship with prayer at the heart of our time together.

This year Assembly will be held 6:30 pm Friday, June 4 through 12:30 pm Saturday, June 5, 2021. Read more info at this link. The Synod Council will elect two representatives

Episcopal Diocesan Convention will be Nov 12 and 13th. Friday will be held virtually and Saturday will be at Turf Valley. We need to elect one delegate and one alternate. More information about last year’s convention is here.

Please let Pastor Stewart know by May 2 if you are available and interested in serving as our representatives at either of these.

Outreach Team News

Please join us at our Outreach Committee Meeting on Sunday, April 18 following the 10:30 service. Way back on February 1st we met and shared some great stories about our current work and also dreamed aloud of what else we might accomplish through our shared ministries. Among the items we'll discuss are the  distribution of funds, connecting the dots to other church activities, and creating a visible presence at church and in the community. We are a blessed community. Let's continue to share and receive the blessings that abound in our world. All are welcome to join in our zoom meeting! Please contact Nancy Fenton at if you want to talk ahead of the meeting.

CARES Food Pantry

Please bring regular donations of non-perishables, toiletries, and cleaning supplies for the GEDCO Cares Food Pantry. They are also emphasizing a special item each week. This week: DETERGENT

Book Group

Our book for the month of April will be Hillbilly Elegy written by J.D. Vance.  Hillbilly Elegy is a memoir and analysis of working-class Americans who lived in the Appalachian Mountains – especially Kentucky and Ohio.  The memoir recounts Vance’s life growing up with his Kentucky family in Ohio, tackling his experience with poverty to observations of addition in Appalachia.  Our presenter for Hillbilly Elegy will be Sarah Knowles.

We have made our time for discussion to be a recurring date for the third Saturday of every month beginning at 4.30 via zoom. Our next meeting will be on April 17, 2021.
