Commonwealth Fly Fishing Championships 2016
Dear friends and anglers,
On behalf of Fly Fishing Canada the host Nation for the 2016 Commonwealth Fly Fishing Championships, and along with the local organizer les Moucheurs EnDiablés flyfishers we welcome you to Mont-Tremblant Quebec Canada.
The event will be held from the 28th of August to the 1st of September.
There will be 5 sessions over two and a half days on three lakes and one river.
The river sessions will be held on the spectacular riviere du Diable which will be divided into 2 distinct sectors. The lake sessions will be held on 3 lakes.
The river holds wild and stocked Brown and Brook Trout, and the lakes hold stocked Rainbow and Brook Trout.
All venues are easily accessed and are within 30 minutes of the host hotel.
All anglers will need to procure a fishing permit. Permits are not available online, but can be purchased locally. We will provide points of sale information in the coming Newsletters.
There will be no official practice days included in the event program.  From the 25th of August to the 28th of August there will be boats available for practice on all 3 of the competition lakes exclusively for the use of the competition participants, prior to those dates anglers will have to make their booking arrangements directly with the outfitter. The 3 lakes are located within the outfitter’s territory, and is known as Pourvoirie Baroux.
The 3 lake sectors will be lac Barriere, lac Renversi, and lac Long.
The river has open access, and competitors can practice up to and including the 27th of August. The organizers would like to rest the 2 sectors on the river so the river will be closed to competitors on the 28th and 29th of August. The lakes are closed to competitors on the 29th. The first competition sessions will take place on all of the sectors on the morning of the 30th of August.
The host hotel will be the Fairmont Mont-Tremblant.
Once registration closes on the 31st of January we will issue a booking code for those who wish to enjoy the discounted price a few days prior and post event.
There are many alternate lodging arrangements available in the area, and we will suggest some in the coming weeks, or you can consult : or simply google Mont Tremblant.
Mont-Tremblant is nestled in the Laurentian hills one and a half hours from Montreal. Mont-Tremblant is an international resort destination, and there are regularily scheduled Skyport buses running from Trudeau airport directly to Mont-Tremblant, with stops at all the major hotels.
Below you will find more information about the event, and you will be updated via this newsletter as we progress. There will also be web pages set up on the local host website covering the event in the coming weeks.
Looking forward to seeing you all soon,
Jim Iredale
President FFC
