UAE Embassy celebrates 41st National Day



The UAE Embassy in Washington, DC marked the 41st anniversary of the United Arab Emirates with the theme “Building Bridges, Creating Connections.” The celebration highlighted the UAE’s deepening bilateral relationship with the US, which is underscored by new nonstop Emirates and Etihad Airways flights from Washington, DC to Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Learn More >

UAE supports recovery of Malala Yousafzai, Pakistani schoolgirl and activist shot by Taliban


Following the attack on Pakistani schoolgirl and rights activist Malala Yousafzai, the United Arab Emirates dispatched a medical team to evaluate her recovery and facilitate her transfer to a hospital in the United Kingdom for more specialized care.   Learn More >

UAE philanthropy helps US communities



A recent article in the Washington Diplomat highlights Embassy's support for child development healthcare, and education initiatives around the US.  Most recently, Ambassador Al Otaiba joined Fight for Children board members and Washington, DC Mayor Vincent Gray to announce support for “Joe’s Champs,” a program that provides early childhood education to at-risk children in the District. Learn More >

US Marine Corps, UAE Armed Forces create joint training forces in UAE


Members of the United States Marine Corps and the UAE Armed Forces will soon commence continual joint training exercises to bolster the joint capabilities of both forces. The UAE remains a staunch security partner of the United States and is the only Arab nation to participate with the US in five coalition actions over the last 20 years. In addition, the UAE hosts more than 2,000 U.S. military personnel and provides support to Navy ships and Air Force units. Learn More >

UAE volunteers rebuild tornado-damaged homes in Tuscaloosa, Alabama



A group of thirteen Takatof Volunteers from the United Arab Emirates traveled to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to help Habitat for Humanity rebuild homes destroyed in a tornado. The group is part of a volunteer social program called Takatof, an initiative of the Emirates Foundation for Youth Development. Learn More >

THIS MONTH IN HISTORY

The Constitution of the United Arab Emirates, authored by Judge Adi Bitar, came into effect in December of 1971 and was permanently accepted in May 1996. The Constitution was signed by the Rulers of six Emirates - Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al Qaiwain and Fujairah. The Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah joined the UAE in February of 1972 . The UAE celebrates the formation of the Union, the acceptance of the federal constitution, as National Day.

3rd Annual Global Entrepreneurial Summit (GES) hosted in Dubai with cooperation from the White House. GES will gather entrepreneurs and innovators from throughout the region and across the world to collaborate on best practices to spur innovation, growth, and progress.

 


DECEMBER 27 - 29, 2012

The Mubadala World Tennis Championship will feature six of the world’s top tennis competitors in a ‘winner take all’ tournament in Abu Dhabi. 

 


JANUARY 13 - 17, 2012

Abu Dubai Sustainability Week  will bring together 30,000 participants from 150 countries, including world leaders, policy makers, thought leaders, decision makers, experts, scientists, business leaders and academics, in an effort to tackle the world’s pressing issues in energy, water and environment, accelerate the global adoption of renewable energy, and empower the young generations and entrepreneurs to spur innovation on these crucial issues.
