Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Meets With President Obama

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, met with President Barack Obama and Vice President Biden during a two day visit to Washington, DC.  President Obama and the Crown Prince reaffirmed their commitment to the strong US-UAE partnership, pledging to deepen the relationship through close and regular consultation. Vice President Biden thanked the Crown Prince for the UAE’s contributions to security and prosperity in the Middle East. Learn More >

 US Defense Secretary Visits UAE

US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel visited the UAE on a recent tour of the Middle East and met with Emirati leaders to discuss ongoing cooperation to address regional challenges. Secretary Hagel's visit follows the Pentagon's announcement of a defense equipment sale to the UAE. The proposed sale underscores a long-term and enduring bilateral military partnership, and will enhance the UAE's defense capabilities

UAE Embassy and Manchester City Community Soccer Program Breaks Ground In Adams Morgan, Washington, DC 

UAE Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba, DC Mayor Vincent Gray, Manchester City representatives, UK Embassy diplomats, local Adams Morgan community leaders, parents and children held a groundbreaking ceremony to unveil City Soccer in the Community’s latest project at Marie Reed Elementary School. The new all-weather turf soccer field will be completed in time for the start of the 2013-14 school year. Learn More >

UAE Donates $120 Million To Global Vaccine Drive

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, pledged an additional $120 million to support global efforts to eradicate polio by 2018. A portion of the donation will be used to aid in eliminating polio in areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan. The gift announcement was made shortly before the Global Vaccine Summit opened in Abu Dhabi. The UAE in partnership with the United Nations and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have made great efforts to provide vaccines to children in developing nations around the world.  Learn More >

Children’s National Medical Center Opens Pain Care Complex

The Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC opened a new Pain Medicine Care Complex for children. Made possible through the generous gift by the Government of Abu Dhabi to Children’s in 2009, the Complex will use innovative gaming technology to fully engage the young patients and objectively measure their treatment progress. Learn More >
